I think we're alone now

scott: [:

Frank: of blockbuster Hollywood and the independent video

scott: store are over. But the days of searching the shelves for hidden gems and overlook call classics is never ending. Join

Frank: us while we drown in a sea of streaming options and ask the question, what the hell is a good

scott: movie.

Anyway, I'm Frank I'm

Frank: Scott. And where are the last video store clerks? why

scott: the episode of the X-Files it wasn't in West Virginia. It's in the Appalachia Cola force, which one was. The one with the red eye guys in the woods. That's the red eye. Yeah. With the disappearing men. Okay. The, the like Moth men in the wood. Okay. Okay. But that's the reason why, when I was a kid, I thought it was in West Virginia because they referenced the moth man a bunch and they said it was the Appalachiacola forest.

And so I just heard Appalachia and was like, that's where. Yeah. So I was terrified when I was in, like, this is probably in middle school and in my head it really got me. No,

d before, well, you remember [:

scott: devil one, the little kid goes home with the dog in the beginning of it.

When his dad disappears in the woods, they're hunting and he's like, take the dog and go home. That's what it is. And then the kids at home with the dog, the dog starts barking and the mom is outside and they separate 'em like Raptors. And then the, the one is upstairs and chases the little kid through the house.

And it's it. Well, I got goosebumps just now. It's scared.

Frank: Haven't shit. Haven't seen him in so long and I keep thinking of, well, another one starts in the backyard is the freak show one, right? Cause that's when the alligator room

scott: guys in the tub or the pool. Well, right after the next episode is the black and white hunchback Two-Face oh, black, like one with the, the guys like dancing to it's kinda like a suit on you get like a

Frank: weird Goonies feel.

Yeah. Yeah. well, and you told me the movie was back on like HBO, max or something. I feel obligated to watch the show up until season five or whatever, then watch the movie, even though it doesn't directly play in, I feel like that's what I have to do to enjoy it. I don't know though. I really just need to start it again.

scott: Well, that's a lot [:

Frank: It's yeah, it's a lot. And you have to deal with those LA that last season and. Wasn't a huge fan of the last season. The new stuff? No, the

scott: last of the old, oh, when it's basically Annabeth ish and

Frank: yeah. And like molders in jail or whatever he is

scott: in the jumpsuit. Yeah. Cause it goes to the trial of molder and it just

Frank: seemed very sloppy to me.

I was one of those people who was just disappointed. Well, that's

scott: what I had warned Kelly about was I was like, it's fine when it's. Scullion dog it, but then it, it gets gray area for a while where it lost

Frank: me. Well, as good as that show was that last episode makes the lists of worst television show endings of all times sometimes.

Like I've seen it on the list before I'm like, oh, X files. No you, yeah,

scott: but I mean, it won awards, you know, like that's that show went on for so long though. I mean, it didn't mean

Frank: that the last episode had to be dog shit. Well, okay. Last season, slow last episodes and not dog. Well, I'm not

scott: even slow. Do you feel bad even saying that it's, who's running it by that.

Because Vince Gilligan has to be gone by then, right? Yeah. Um, Because it was Carter, then viz Gilligan took over after the movie. And then it just

Frank: [:

scott: the season with the Gary Shandling episode? I think it is it's I love that episode.

That's the one with tale Leon's in that one too. No shit. Yeah. Damn.

Frank: I need a rewatch. I should

scott: get there. It was about time for it. There it's almost time for a battle star rewatch too, for me, I think.

Frank: Oh, we started and we didn't make it past the first season for the first time ever. So I'm scared. , I'm scared that it never, it's never happened before.

scott: I mean, if I can rewatch four seasons of far escape, you, you can do battle star.

Frank: No, and I think I wanna put XFiles in front of battle star though, because I've seen battle star that many more. Since I've seen XFiles all the way through. I really have. I was, I was way more up on battle star rewatching, the X files rewatching.

Uh, but I finally snapped out of watching old stuff

scott: currently. I would say watching Battlestar is demanding XFiles is low maintenance, iHeart, fat Apollo.

Jamie Bamba. What all did you watch that? This, I guess we we've been, I was sick two weeks. I fucked

Frank: it up. I was sick. [:

scott: No one will notice though, because we're, we have a, a lag, so no will notice, but I'll

Frank: snitch it on myself. I fucked it up, but it was weird. It was a weird 20.

It wasn't COVID it sucked, but when I'm sick, I go into movie mode. It's a little hazy, but man, I knock some shit

movie mode. Usually it's like:

Frank: well, my favorite was lamb. I finally got to watch lamb with rest. Response. I don't know how to say her name.

Dr. Shaw from REPAYE yeah. Yeah. Lamb. It's on Hulu plus it's on Hulu. I believe I had it on my watch list on Amazon and I was so close to running it so many times and I made it's for sure on Showtime was that oh yeah. So I do Showtime through Hulu as what? Yeah. That's what it's that's what's happening.

lu's, uh, dashboard, it said [:

Oh, yeah. Okay. It's beautiful though. They shoot it in one of. Sweden, Finland, Iceland, some shit like that.

scott: Yeah. Wherever a girl with the dragon tattoos

Frank: from. Yeah. I, I guess because she's speaking the language it's subtitled, who knows

scott: with people from that region though, those

Frank: mountains were beautiful. I couldn't, Jesus.

I was blown away. I was like, shit, if I could farm lambs and fucking hay in the fucking mountains, I would do that out there.

scott: If you can handle

Frank: the cold. Yeah. And I think they were, it's like the daylight sleeping, like Alaska gets, I guess. Yeah. That, that was implied in the movie. I was like, oh yeah, I guess that would

scott: make sense for there too.

I didn't, I haven't watched it all that much. It was mostly. X files and then no movies, no movies per se. This week lamb was the

Frank: good one. I watched a couple other ones, I think Olympia and I watched spider head. What is spider head? It's a human experiment movie with Chris Hemsworth and miles teller. This is the Netflix original Netflix original.

I saw that Chris Hemsworth was one of the executive producers.

scott: Yeah, we gotta do some Netflix stuff. I feel like we're, we've gone real hard on Amazon. We should get.

Frank: I wish I [:

I was, oh this just came out. Let's put it on. It was entertaining. It was. Different kind of human experiment movie. I mean, you know, they're

scott: all similar, uh, Kelly watched, uh, candy and I watched the end of just the courtroom scene with her. Oh. So I got to see the, like you, you got, see some of it . Yeah. Cause when she was watching the beginning, I was like, eh, and then once she was watching the courtroom stuff and I was the first thing I saw was Justin Timberlake with that fucking haircut.

Yeah. And, uh, And the actual murder and stuff. Yeah. Yeah. That was the part of the show. I probably would've been the most interested in anyway. Well,

Frank: yeah, SPO, they make you wait to see what, well, supposedly actually went down because it's still all the only people who are really gonna know are the two people that were in the room that day.

Yeah. I like that. It's one of those, I mean, you can go off of what they put in the movie, but I mean, it's one of those where, who knows what exactly happened. I

e documentaries? No, no, no. [:

Yeah. By the end and justice, the metalhead kids will never, yeah. And justice will never be served. Yeah. But at the same time, like when you start to delve into like those filmmakers mm-hmm and you start to be like, eh, something isn't completely being revealed here. I don't know the whole thing. I thought buyers did it.

And cuz he is such a fucking loud idiot, you know well, I, I

Frank: think last time I watched a documentary on that, I think I finished it, but I think I was frustrated is how I felt, you know, like I think I consciously tried to

scott: block it. Yeah. Cuz I think the second one was appeal. And so that was really frustrating.

And then the third one is equally frustrating because it really well,

Frank: you know, I watched the documentary on Netflix a couple years ago. We called don't fuck with cats

scott: and it was very entertaining. Oh, that one, everybody got real upset about Netflix was auto playing trailers. Oh, by the way, uh, our friend John told us.

If you go on Netflix, mm-hmm you can turn the trailer auto play off, but you have to go on their website. Oh fuck. You can't do it

hen's the last time I signed [:

scott: Well, yeah, we did it. It's it's, it's wonderful. I'd be worth it. Cause we used to like mute it, you know?

Cause it was like, as you were flipping through as well. Yeah. You'd go to the

Frank: kitchen to get a snack or a drink and it's like there's noise. And you're like, no, I just wanna see the, the still shot on the

scott: screen still when you press. More, so you can read the full description. Mm-hmm still starts.

Autoplaying the fucking movie though. Ah, which drives me crazy. It's still a better app than the rest of them. We can't even a perfect fucking world. Candidly. That enough.

Frank: now. Um, oh, Don't fuck. They, they blame the metalhead. Sorry. At one point they blame a metalhead dude. Oh, really? From, I think he was from Mexico, but he was one of the people who commented in. Oh,

scott: I, yeah. I do know a little bit the internet

Frank: Slueths. Yeah. The internet Slueths, which are getting a bad name because people just go way too hard without like

scott: confirming their story.

ecil hotel stuff. Yeah. They [:

Frank: Yeah. Oh my God. Wait, was that two of 'em where it was like a black metal kid from Mexico? Yeah, I guess so. Holy shit. Yeah. It's always the guy cuz he is wearing black makeup, man. Doesn't mean he's fucking out there killing cats and it

scott: probably means he's way nerdier than it'll ever be than either of us will ever be.

it's fucking

Frank: horrible. But no, all those, they just frustrate me to a point cuz it's like, you're just fucking judging this guy cuz he's different. Yeah.

scott: Or. Just just because he's like, just

Frank: cuz he talks about fucking, I fucking you boo. Yeah. You know, like you don't have to fucking think that he's like really the fucking devil or doing some shit playing records backwards.

The old fucks. Yeah. I don't know

scott: anything else you watched. That was

t in, uh, oh yeah. Yeah. And [:

And Texas was like, wait, you're fucking doing what with underage

scott: girls over this, unless your Methodist, you ain't gonna get away with shit here.

Frank: oh yeah, no it fucking, I, you know, I remember it vaguely from being in the. That time period. But it turns out that was like, I think, oh, 6 0 7 in there, Uhhuh. So it's, it's been a while already. Yeah. And, uh, yeah, I didn't, I guess I wasn't into the news at that point, but that one was just, it's hard to watch cuz you know, it's fucked up, but it was, I watched big love on the fictional side.

I liked big love. I did watch big love. And so I was like, well let me see where a lot of this came from and oh my goodness. It's the real life. Big love.

scott: Amplified. Oh, that's crazy. Cuz big love stressed me out on that. Dexter breaking bad level. Mm-hmm you know where I was like, don't do that.

Frank: Well, remember how Nikki's dad was the prophet in big love.

FLDS situation. Oh. And his [:

scott: I'd be into that. I find that shit interesting. Well, they were

Frank: on the fringe and then his dad passes away. He comes into power.

That's when it turned into the, Hey, we're gonna marry off 14 year old fucking girls and dirty shit like that. Yeah. Yeah. So that's where it goes really dark. And then just how many wives these old creepy ass dudes had and the way that it was supposed to work, according to God, the prophet, but really it was like a business.

So if you were like good with the profit yeah. Then he would hook you up with more younger wives, super fucked up to be able to watch big love years ago. See this four part series on Netflix, really breaking it down, explaining it. I was like, okay, this makes sense to me. Now, at least I fully under, well, not fully understand, but I better understand the situation.

scott: Yeah. The LDS is weird, man. It's a weird rabbit hole to go down. Well, and

Frank: this was the FLDS. Yeah. fundamentalist

scott: side of it. you'd be fundamental. I get two planets when I go to heaven.

entioned, I watched a couple [:

That was different TV

scott: back then. Oh, I did watch the brew. The BRD. What's that? The old David Cronenberg movie from the seventies, it's on, it's on HBO right now. Like how fell asleep one night. And I was like, man, I'm gonna watch the BRD. I haven't seen that since I was a kid. I was like, I think it's kind of sexy.

Not really. There's some titties in it. Seventies titties and Bush are always good. but like, it was, uh, not as CRO and Bergy as I remember, not as body horror, what's it about? You should watch it. Okay. It's worth a watch. I, I think one of these days we need to do some old horror that you haven't. That I haven't seen.

Yeah. And that I haven't seen in many years. Oh. Like a long time to see if it holds up for me and to. How you responded and by old you mean like seven eighties, mean seventies psychotronic horror, you know? Okay. Flashy lights, weird stuff going on. Yeah. Bizarre. My bizarre side of the video store was I'm watching the entire horror in science fiction section

, I, I kept thinking about a [:

I think we're alone now. I think we're alone, which is a song about teenagers. Fucking, it was a really, this was not Tiffany. Uh, well that that's a cover too. The Tiffany version. Yeah. Tommy James and the Sean Dells 19, uh, 50 something. Ooh. Has

Frank: that been in a

scott: Stephen King movie? oh, for sure.

Frank: that sounds like the type of

scott: song with that.

I feel like it might be in sleepwalkers

mother. Oh, wow. Wasn't that guy on char. Oh, good. Que I don't know. I think he was, I didn't

Frank: do. I'm pretty sure he was. I determined for a minute cuz one of our friends did, but I

scott: didn't. It came on after Buffy, when we were in high school and I watched Buffy a lot. Wait, was.

Frank: Shannon Doherty then rose McGown

scott: and charmed.

They replaced [:

Frank: Oh, I was more like with Pacey and Dawson Dawson's

scott: Creek, you know? Yeah. I quit watching that when I dude started smoking weed.

don't wanna wait. I do appreciate that James Van der Beek, because a really good sense of humor. No, he seems like a really fun guy. Yeah. I would hang out with him. Yeah. I think he would like. Yeah. I'd want to talk about it's from, uh, knocked up.

Frank: Well, what if I met him, I think I'd want to talk about his experience doing, uh, rules of attraction.

Like, how did you prepare for that role?

scott: That's a fine movie. It really is. It really is. That's a bread Spinelli's book. Yes. Yeah. A good one too. Yeah, fucking I love the ending. I love the ending. If you haven't seen rules of attraction, watch it. it's worth it. It's worth. I'm not gonna spoil the ending also.

There's no way to spoil the ending

Frank: what is that? The end of the world party.

od movie starts and finishes [:

And just too, it just feels uncomfortable tonight, ladies in general, especially when he has another author on like he had P on not too long ago. Oh, wow. And, uh, fucking, like, I was like, Pretend motherfucker. Just reading this whole page you wrote in front of Chuck Palahnuik

which I mean, fair enough. Brett Stellis is part of Chuck Palahnuik's success because he read fight club real early and got it really out there. And was a big advocate of

Frank: him, so, well, I mean, I feel like they were coming up similar time,

scott: like say, oh, for sure. Yeah, they were similar. Pilot's probably older than him.

Frank: Yeah. Yeah. If you read one, you were probably reading something from the

uthors and they're both gay. [:

About like, I shouldn't, I'm not supposed to talk about this. Yeah. you know, they're like, no, it's we need to, we need to discuss this.

Frank: Well, it's hard to say, well, they'll talk about whatever. So you can't say that. I know what you're saying. A lot of people,

scott: yeah. P always says that there's no sisterhood of the traveling pants for men mm-hmm and he was like, there's no men need to put.

Fucked up anger. Some. He was like, it doesn't go away just cuz you, you call it toxic. Keep that to yourself. It's not gonna go away. It's still in there. And he's like, it's a very dangerous thing. I dig that about him because you can, you could argue everything is written for men or with the male gaze or whatever with the male gaze.

aracter. And it it's written [:

Frank: you know? Oh, did what was that drama just like a year ago or two where that woman won that award. But it turned out. It was like three men doing the writing. Oh, I don't

scott: know about that.

Frank: A movie or something? No, they were in, it was somewhere where they Brazil. Shit. I shouldn't have done it. There was something where this author who had gotten all this fame and da, da, da, and it was, it was a woman's name. There was just like all this, like talking like hype. And she won this award when it came time to represent the award, like it turned out, it was like 1, 2, 3 guys writing under this like, assumed name.

Oh, right. So then it was like, what the fuck are y'all doing, man? Like she just won an award and there's no, she. Me. Yeah, but I mean, that's the fucking

scott: male game you enjoyed there, but if you enjoyed it, you enjoyed it. Or if it had meaning to you, it like, that was like when Oprah got mad at that guy about a million little pieces.

ople if it helped people, it [:

Just meant that she took something that was potentially helpful off the table. Oh, Oprah. I think she even admitted maybe ridiculing him in the manner she did. Wasn't beneficial to anything. But if you were the last person on earth, what building would you like? Say you lived in a small town. Mm-hmm solid walls.

Or even if you didn't, if you lived here, you'd probably get the fuck out of the city. Cuz there'd be dead bodies. Every. Yeah. Too many dead bodies. Well,

Frank: so if it's in the city, solid walls, solid walls windows, but enough windows where I could cover up, like

scott: what mattered. Yeah. But the amount of post apocalypse stuff that we've watched, mm-hmm , if you're gonna go live in a town, you gotta go to a smaller town because this place is gonna catch on fire my

Frank: population.

Yeah. And I mean, if it's a zombie thing, you've got the whole herd thing, you know, you're not taking on a herd.

scott: Well, even if it's not a zombie thing, this movie is about a guy who is the last alive in a plague. Mm-hmm . So if you were in a small town, where would you set up?

Frank: First thought would be police station, but then people would go there.

So probably one of the [:

scott: people's houses. So you really think that you're the last person. Police station police station still just paranoia would still be seeping in, uh, yeah, I mean

Frank: the, the it's probably got good doors that lock well, just in case, you know, cuz even if I'm the last person I'm tripping out, cuz what the fuck's out there at nighttime, you know what I mean?

That's fair. Yeah. Um, I'm thinking that at least they've got some money, you know, locking doors. There's probably guns and ammo there. You got radio. Um, okay. Yeah, you just have a lot of supplies in one place and that can be your camp. Then you venture out into your scouting, your scavenging from there. Good home base.

scott: That's fair. Yeah, not, yeah, not too bad. I never, I never would thought of, even though I played president evil two a thousand times I never would be like, I'm gonna go to the police station. Yeah. Where would you go? Uh, You know, I wrote that question. I haven't really thought about it. Ah, uh, probably

Frank: two. Um, well, let's see.

Small towns you've you probably got a Walmart. You've got schools.

ought that was a pretty good [:

Frank: it's not big enough, you have a dollar general, for sure. There's some good supplies right there.

Decent enough. I saw get those cheese puffs of some kind.

scott: Yeah. Yeah. Um, I think a YMCA Yia might something.

Frank: You'd even have an indoor

scott: pool, probably pretty easy to clean out. Yeah. Learn how to do some pool maintenance as far. Anyone who died in a YMCa you could be like PIP

Frank: from Airheads.

scott: Yeah.

there's probably some beds there. A church would also be a high

Frank: candidate. Yeah. Church, very few windows. So I don't know why I keep going to windows. I'm like, something's gonna come to the window.

scott: I, I think like old building wise church. Very sturdy structurally, not like a new church, like old church usually been here a long time.

I would, I would go Catholic or Methodist with some, with some holy wa. Well, uh, it's just, those are churches I've been in. They usually have a lot of rooms in the basement. Yeah. True. Usually

Frank: have a basement. Pews means wood

. And there, there might be. [:

Frank: Those damn little

scott: chips, oyster crackers for everyone. Would you be happy that everyone

Frank: died at some point? I, as much as I don't like to go out and socialize now I'd get, I, I think I'd trip out, man.

scott: Do you have a little bit of like a fantasy about it? I'm the last one at the end of the world? I think that as a culture, we're obsessed with that.

Sometimes I will survive this. Where, where do you,

Frank: what do you do at a certain point? There's only so much you can do. There's only so much you can do to keep yourself occupied and before you're gonna start losing your shit. And I mean, you could try something new every day, but how long can you do. I don't know if I'm the type of person who's got drive for that.

Even if I am the last person

scott: in the world, I know it's hard to say. Yeah, we all just went through a pandemic. So yeah. I mean, uh, I think we're capable of entertaining ourselves a lot more than we thought we

Frank: were, man, when that shit first Hitite beans and rice for a week when we were trying to like scavenge groceries, you know, like reserve what we had.

e, uh, me and the little one [:

Yeah. Guess what? I've got beans and rice. I've got all these canned goods, like, and I didn't buy out the store. That's what's important to me. I did it in a reasonable fashion, like three or four shopping trips in a row. I got a little bit extra on the side. That's how you do that. there's no need to go buy eight cases of toilet paper.

If you think the world is ending, don't get

scott: so close to the mic.

Frank: I'm I'm sorry. Serious fucking cut it out. I hate can hate so much of that. I hate people. No, no, no, but yeah, I mean, just like you don't have to buy out the whole

scott: store, so I'm thinking you would carry your contempt with you into the, this solo

Frank: Oh dude, I'm arming up, man. I'm getting, I'm getting some guns. I'm getting like a big ass, something

scott: like that. Even if it ended up just being you. Yeah, man.

haul ass around in whatever [:

scott: bust meth heads in your, you know what I mean? End of the world fantasy.

How does the world. Like, if you were fantasizing about the, like the way I fantasize about being a small town, sheriff, you, you just play a story. I love the small town. Sheriff is my favorite entry point into a story. Yeah. You know, I love hopper. That's why I watch stranger things. It's the hopper show to me.

Hopper is why I love that show. I like a manly, small town sheriff that punches people, and this guy's a Vietnam or agent orange war vet who lost his daughter. It sounds like you should

Frank: have picked police station cuz you want that's that's your

scott: role. You would think if maybe small town I might pick police station.

Yeah, but I don't think a small town police station is gonna be as secure cuz I grew up in a small town and that police station was just a fucking building. It wasn't a fortres I don't know. Well,

Frank: and I'm still thinking about your question that you, that you asked. Possibly if somehow I could be immune in an inro strained situation.

Okay. Because that seems to kill people pretty quick. Yeah.

scott: It looked pain [:

Frank: I'm, you know, even though it's just a hypothetical thing, like I do have a family now. So if I'm the last one, that means I would've had to have seen my family die so I'm just like something

scott: that ends.

Well, I think wick that I, I thought of that when I was, I was coming up with ideas for this episode, this was a slow movie. It was, I don't think we're gonna ask at the end, was this a good movie? Cuz I, I did really like this and it was, uh, a certain kind of movie that I like. I agree. It was a very quiet and tranquilized movie.

This is the sort of movie you watch in the morning, not at night when you're tired. Well, and that's the, you know, and I did, I watched it. First thing in the morning you did. I, I

Frank: did night. It was probably 9,

scott: 8 39 when I started, I meant to, I just, uh, I think I was just really out of it at night and I was, I knew this was gonna be a quieter movie.

Mm-hmm and it was, uh, the first line of dialogue in this movie is that 13 minutes and 55 seconds. Was it? Yeah. So was that

Frank: after the rush, after rush?

scott: Oh, yeah, [:

The first thing I

Frank: heard was like, is that, is that rush? I was like,

scott: I dug that. I love Peter Diage too. He's such a good curmudgeon. Lanta always

Frank: pays the debts.

scott: not so much a curmudgeon in that when he plays a grumpy ass dude, he's really good

Frank: at it. Oh, side note, I read that they may be looking at a John Snow spinoff for game of Thrones.

scott: Well, when are we gonna find out what happens to Fredo after he gets on the fucking boat?

don't,

Frank: Olympia's been watching Harry Potter and Lord of the rings in

scott: rotation. I'm interested in watching that new Lord of the ring show. She, I also don't need that. No, I'm not

Frank: there. I told her I would so do this, but I just

scott: am not feeling I hit or miss with the fantasy stuff. I really like the Witcher. I think it's good.

not, I probably will though, [:

Frank: epic

scott: story right now. It's a little too colorful and crisp. That was the thing about the game of Thrones. And when I'm watching these new game of Thrones trailers, mm-hmm, , that's what a fantasy show should look like.

Is that mid-August right? Yeah. Cuz it looks it's shot exactly the same. Mm-hmm as the, the other. That's what I want. I'm ready. And out of a new Lord of the ring show, I think it's gonna be a little too bright and sunny and shiny. And yeah, I'm ready for the, the, the, I wanna see Dr. Who be a fucking dragon baby.

Oh my God. I love Matt Smith, man. That's such a good show.

Frank: Okay. Stop it. Cause I have a lot of questions. So my brain is getting my mind was wandering back there. Like, man, I kind of wanna watch

scott: that. I feel like if I watched that again, I'd start from season two. I don't think I could do season one over again.

Cause that's a lot of dangling. Yeah. You know, they're like zombies and then way, then I got really excited at the end of the show. I was fine with the end of the show. I, I didn't

ppened. Disclaimer. Yeah. I, [:

scott: ago for the first time. Oh, that's right.

You were like a late comer.

Frank: I saved it. Yeah. I saved it. It was my plan the whole time when it's done, I'll come.

scott: I watched it all as it went on that that's hardcore that you didn't get spoiled at all for that. Nope. But I guess that's, that's a dense story. It's hard to hard

Frank: to really? Yeah. I mean, I'd hear things every now and then, but I, you know, I, I didn't have any context or reference, so I wouldn't hang onto it, but I liked

scott: it.

And personally, on, on a, like, that's just me kind of level the fact that it upset people made me like it. Like those of the hardcore fans that were like, ah, fuck

Frank: that. Nah, I finished it. Everybody's working from home. The guy at work that always told me about it was up there one day. I was like, man, I finally did it.

You know where Kobe, you know, I watched it every night. I'd stay up till three in the morning. Well, you didn't read the books though. Dude, you ask, you were telling me to watch the show forever. I tell you I watch it. And you're like, you didn't read

scott: the books though. I, I read the first two books and I was really enjoying the show.

ly night flyers is one of my [:

So I started reading the books cuz I like Georgia, R Martin and I don't give a fuck what people's armor looks like or what everyone's eating for dinner and blah, blah, blah. And that's what the first book was. There's literally like 40 pages of them having. Fucking dinner and having tournaments and shit.

I don't give a shit about that. Show me dragons and show me fucking zombies. Yeah. Yeah. I called the white Walker zombies. anyway, give us a summary.

Frank: Okay. Uh, this is, I think we're alone now. There's

scott::

Frank: It's it's just pizza. You fucking

Oh man. watch out for that poison Ivy. No. Um, and I think something, this one had a, a 5.7 on IMDB. Yeah. So it's in the middle-ish close

t allow it to be five point. [:

Well, and I think

Frank: seven is good, but I wouldn't even give it to seven, three. Have you seen seven? There's some amazing movies that have a seven, three on IMDB. and that kind of rubs me the

scott: wrong way. Our movie from next week has lower than that. And I I'm very excited about it. We'll get to that

Frank: at the end.

Yeah. Um, so this is, I think we're alone now. A director is Reid Moreno written by Mike McKowski. We can't talk about this movie without spoiling the twist, which is pretty good. We will warn you when we get to that part and leave it out of the summary. After a play wipes out to human race, Dell played by Peter Diage lives out his days in solitude.

He spends each day cleaning up the homes and bearing his deceased neighbors. Yeah, you kind of start to assume it's like a closure thing or just something for him to do. You don't know, but it's, I feel

scott: like at the end of the world you'd need something to do, and he's very methodical about it. Yeah. To keep yourself going.

And he's very method thought you were the last

Frank: person. He marks them off on the map and he's doing them in order, you know, taking their

scott: pictures, keeping files. Everything's

e's in his own little world. [:

So you can tell there's some conflict there, cuz he's like, wait, I'm not alone, but do I want this? She reveals very little about where she's from, but when two more survivors show up a little bit later in the storyline played by Paul Gati and Charlotte Gainesboro. They claim to be Grace's parents.

Anytime I see Paul GMA, I'm like, what's going on here? The parents show up, which were supposedly dead. So her origins become uncertain and possibly sinister. Peter dage Dell gave her a chance. Let's her into his little world. and then all of a sudden they're like, there's this, but they take her back to California where they say, you know, this is where the remains of humanity are.

They've all gathered there. There's hundreds, thousands of people it's this community. Oh, it's so great. And they're even telling Dell, you should come check it out. Like they're trying to recruit him. It's this awkward situation where they're like, so you have our daughter, you just feel this uneasiness and then they're inviting him, but Dell's just so caught off guard.

has it, his attitude and the [:

Frank: if I'm the dad, and this is the end of the world where it's a situation where this guy thought he was the last person in the planet. And I find somebody with my daughter in another, like, I'm gonna be a little different than that.

Be like, Hey, what are your intentions

scott: son? Yeah. which, which sort of gets to the twist and we'll hold that back.

Frank: Yeah. Yeah. You know, they get her back to California and he's faced with his solitude once more. Dell's loneliness sends him after them to either rejoin humanity or save grace from what it has become this movie you mention it's a slow burn.

Took a while. Um, I feel like, would you say 13 minutes before?

scott: There was a 13 minutes before there's any dialogue? Jesus,

Frank: I didn't. Okay. I knew it was a while, but I didn't realize

scott: it was that long. It's just him. Cleaning up houses for 13 minutes. And, but it was very effective, felt lonely mm-hmm . And uh, I think that this movie really started to make me think of like, I am legend the Richard Madison book, not the will Smith movie, but fine.

f science fiction. Horror to [:

Mm-hmm so like other things like boy and his dog came up, that's a Harlan Ellison book. Uh, I have no mouth, but I'm a scream. It's about like people trapped in like a computer basically sort of, oh shit. Like a computer entity is torturing these people and, uh, changing their physiology as they start to re.

It's fucked up. It's one of the most terrifying stories I've ever read. you could not make a movie or even a short film about this story. They'd fuck it up and capture how fucking terrifying they'd fuck it up. Uh, station 11 makes me think of that. Okay. This, this had this, a similar tone. Yeah, the road similar.

an, at the end of the world, [:

Frank: exactly what she was talking about.

Where's the special when you need

scott: it. uh, the last policeman by Ben winters, which fuck somebody make a movie out of it. it's a comment is coming to. And everybody knows they have like two years. And so there are no murder investigations anymore only suicide cleanup. And, uh, he finds a suicide that he thinks is, might be a murder.

And everyone's like, who gives a fuck, man? , we'll pass this. And also. The original dystopian, the sci-fi horror, the last man by Mary Shelley, which interesting connection L fanning played Mary Shelley and Mary Shelley biopic. Oh, did not know that. So she picks these kind of things.

Frank: Well, the last thing I watched with her was neon demon.

It's really slow. Yeah, it took me several nights to be completely honest. I might still have 15 to 20 minutes left. I might

critical failure, not a well [:

Uh, the better fanning if you ask me.

Frank: Yeah. You know, Dakota, she, she did the kid thing.

two thousands, no shit, maybe:

Uh, it may have been sci-fi channel, but I'm not sure. I didn't see that it was really good. I love aliens in sci-fi. If you can find taken it's worth a watch. I don't know if it holds up like it did, but when it was on, I was very excited about it. And that was the first time I saw Dakota fanning. She's a little girl in it.

Mm. But L Fanning's a little, uh, a little bit more hardcore. Then a sister. Yeah. Yeah,

Frank: for sure. Super eight was really cool. Oh yeah. Love super eight. I love

scott: super. That was like a good movie that was aimed directly at us. It was like a kids' movie for our age group, adult. Oh, it had

Frank: a home dude in it.

r. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Coffee. [:

scott: Yeah. Um, but yeah, the, all those stories are about grief and loss. And as much as we can have these fantasies about the end of the world, mm-hmm I don't think that you can tell a story.

About this without that sort of station 11 little girl, all alone feeling

Frank: station 11 was so good. Oh my God. It was so good. So good. If you haven't seen station 11, HBO, max,

scott: ah, you can't get better character development

Frank: and it's quality. The quality there. Yeah. And limited

scott: series

Frank: limited series. That's what, that's what

scott: cemented me on limit childhood crushes.

Frank: My childhood. Oh, Laurie petty.

scott: she's looking hot shut.

Frank: like, man, this is not a league of their own. Okay. Laurie petty

scott: was, is not 10 in station 11, but man, she was, she's like half

Frank: blind and crazy. Well, and she, I mean, I've been seeing, you know, the, the older Laurie petty since oranges was the new black, when I was, she was good in that too.

hen cuz fucking Kenji Kohan. [:

Frank: Orange is the new black crowd. And then that last season I didn't watch it.

Oh, I didn't finish the last season, man. They lost

scott: me. Thank God for James gun because he put fucking tasty in peacemaker and she's fucking hilarious. Damnit.

Frank: Okay. I need to do peacemaker. So, and Tasty's a main

scott: character. Awesome. Yeah. Good for her. Yeah, man. Good for her. She fucking kills it in that everyone in peacemakers.

So. I can't say enough. Good thing. Well, and I feel

Frank: like without oranges of new black, we wouldn't have porn stash either. I don't, I don't know if his career would've gone the direction when, if he wasn't in orange, you need to

scott: watch peacemaker and don't think of it. Like peacemaker has so much more heart than the boys does.

Does it? Yeah, no, I like the boys though. Well, the boys is a different kind of, uh, it, Garth Enes is of. Fucking madman. He wrote fucking preacher for God's sake. Yeah. And Constantine and no, the boys are just fucking crossed, which will never be made into a movie. It's about zombies that rape people. Oh, what?

[:

That's a

Frank: very, that's very original right there. That's what, that's what I

scott: it's fucked up, man. I'll let you borrow it. If, if you're ever into reading a comic book.

Yeah,

Frank: no, no. I'll remember that.

scott: That's that's intense crossed cuz they get this cross shape rash on their face. Did, and they're not so much zombies as they are like 28 days later, rabid sex demons.

You know, that's

Frank: the, that's the way that I don't want the world to end getting chased by zombies with horse

scott: Cox. You wanna talk about end of the world? Shit. I don't know if I'm gonna be the same after that, but even that still has the loneliness and grief in it. Yeah. Like it's a very somber.

Frank: Comic books.

ped by zombies. Yeah. That's [:

scott: I, I, I can't stress enough that I, I really did like this movie. No,

Frank: it was a good movie. It's just not an exciting movie. No, it, it's not exciting. It's it's a little clever here and there.

scott: You're I will say this movie was, it was what? An hour and a half long. Yeah, right about there. Uh, could have been, you could have told this whole story in 30

Frank: minutes. Yeah. This could have been one of those 81 minute movies. Beautiful Twilight zone episode though. Yes, it was filmed. Well, I love the dialogue.

I didn't see any huge continuity things. It was a well done movie. It's just nothing spectacular. I mean, it's not gonna blow people away. Yeah.

scott: But it's a well done movie, which is another movie that I can. The reference of, uh, time enough, it last, the twilight's done episode with a Burgess Meredith. I can finally read every book.

Oh. And then, you know, and he breaks his glasses. Yeah. This felt a whole lot. Like it was inspired by those things. Mm-hmm, the omega man sort of, and nothing was real

Frank: in your

scott: face. But if you're a fan of Peter Diage, this was the Diage show. It was very good. He was really good in it. There's

rank: the cuz there's an age [:

scott: let's get to work and Diage is a badass for holding on and being like, I'm not playing dwarfs and elves and, and I'm gonna play full size people parts.

And he's a full size person as an actor. He's a really fucking imposing presence. Mm-hmm and

Frank: yeah, the character Dell, his home base is the library.

scott: I didn't wanna say that at the beginning of it, but that was a solid small town move. Yeah. And that library had a view. It had a incredible view view. And then like

Frank: what, like a basement room, like, you know, it had the downstairs that went into like what he used as the

scott: living area and Peter Diage, they, they never say whether he was like the librarian or anything like that.

Mm-hmm but he was collecting library books from the people's houses that were, that had been like any

Frank: outstanding books that had not been returned really,

scott: really. Old copies, like first editions and stuff like that. Mm-hmm of like tale two cities and,

Frank: oh, I love the one part where she's already with him and they're eating dinner and she's like, where you at?

d he said right here at that [:

scott: really? Yeah. Oh, so he probably was a librarian.

Frank: That's where he was at when it happened. And I love that because you saw him there multiple times in the movie up to that point and you're like, oh, that's like his spot. It's the subtle things in that one that got you.

He's methodical in his searching. He's going in order down the streets. He mark, once he cleans them, gets the books, takes a photo from the house and then puts a Y X in the street.

scott: And he just cleaned up the town. Yeah. He buried everyone. I mean, he buried 'em in a mask grave, which just the fact that. Peter Diage was dragging dead bodies.

Cause it's a small town. There was definitely some fat people

Frank: Olympia brought that up and she's like, how is he able to do that? And I'm like, listen to the sound. They are telling you that this is nothing but skin and bones in that bag. They, they made

scott: that sound. That sound like wavy L fanning and Peter

Frank: Diage.

Yeah. And when you watch him drag, you even see the bounce in the body bag. So I'm like they're making it as obvious as they can that he's, he's carrying these bodies that are so badly decomposed. Skin and bones it's dried skin and

he town and stuff like that, [:

It is like, it was like piles of shit outside. And, and they never said like, was that his mother. Was that his wife, wife, there was a lot unsaid. There was a story behind the story in this movie, like an implied. Well,

Frank: now that you mention it, was he the maintenance man? Could he have been the ma because he knows how to work the backhoe at the cemetery.

I mean,

scott: I don't know fewer, I could run a backhoe, but that was part of the thing was he was sort of detached from all of that.

Frank: Yeah. It wasn't a social butterfly and

scott: he hadn't gone and cleaned up his. Saving it, maybe that was a fucking mess.

Frank: no, but it's not explained, did he have kids? I thought it was implied once or twice that he had kids, but I was like, or is that just relics from someone else's house that just happened to be

scott: right there.

He wouldn't even fully answer the question that that was his house. Mm-hmm when confronted

Frank: with it. Well, and of all things, that's the night he gives into her advances. Did they have sex?

scott: I think they did. Why were they in a random. Was that a house he was staying in. That was the house that she had claimed.

[:

Frank: it was nice. And she played this younger kind of aloof role. She seemed to be, you know, good head on her shoulders, the character grace, but there was still the youth there. Yeah. Cuz she's

scott: like 25, but she could play a 15 year old if she wanted to.

Mm-hmm and what

Frank: I took into account was, well, I I'd imagine it was somewhere between what, four to six years, at least since it happened, maybe probably. And so however old she was supposed to be you minus you subtract that. That's how old

scott: she, it got weird happened. Paul gani showed up and was like, this is our daughter and stuff like that.

I was like, how, how old is she? not that it matters at the end of the world, but fuck.

Frank: Yeah. Was this another earth situation? Like, is this like the, Ugh, no. Um, no, not at all. Sorry. Not, not even gonna do that, but anyway. Yeah. And he did just seem creepy. Something was off, but I mean, they'd bonded. They'd had their spat, they found the dog, she found a dog, brought it back.

scott: Then he let the dog out. Then he let the dog out, which is like the midpoint of the movie. Or

She was more than willing to [:

Oh, it chewed some shit up. He tried till it was okay. That's when it bit him, right?

scott: Oh, that's right. Yeah. It bit him. So I think he was like, I don't need this shit.

Frank: Yeah. So when it was barking to go out, he just let it out. Dog

scott: runs away, kind of a dickhead thing to do though. He could have just. Gonna put it in her house or something.

Frank: Yeah. You've got a whole town in his mind. You've got the whole

scott: world, but what really like made me not trust Paul G Iani. It wasn't even, they're like eating breakfast. Like they fucking own the place and she's all weird out, made themselves right at home. That was all kind of weird. But when he decided he was gonna go to his library and take a book on tape, like in, in the entitled way that he did, I.

Fuck you. Yeah. That's his

Frank: spot,

scott: man. I was like, it's the end of the world. This is my fucking library. Yeah.

Frank: He w he was very nonchalant about taking the audio book like that. Wasn't part of

you wouldn't be in the habit [:

At this point. He

Frank: writes the address down in a book, hands it to Dell. Oh yeah. And he wrote

scott: it in the book. He wrote it. I am fucking offended by that. like, I'm not the. Caretaker of books. Mm-hmm I have a lot of books, but they're meant to be red. Well, if that's your home

Frank: base in the, in the

scott: apocalypse. Yeah.

If you're gonna go fucking write in a book,

Frank: but okay. Did it bother you that, okay, so obviously the library and his cleanup activities are his new life. Mm-hmm the, the dad writes it in the book, hands it to him and he puts it on the shelf. Okay. So skip a little, he he's back to his own life, but he's missing her.

He's realized he, he fucked up, he goes to look for the book and he doesn't remember where it

scott: was. That. Yeah, that seemed a little off to me. I feel like he's the sort

Frank: of person so meticulous about everything that he had been doing it once the dad handed in that book, like, okay, I'm sure he probably knew the book, but if not, I'm sure he remembered where he was standing in his library house.

It just bothered me. Cuz that was the one thing that seemed.

eah. Yeah. I think something [:

Frank: was, it was a big, whoa, he's pissed off throwing shit frustrated. I can't find that one book. It just didn't, it wasn't in alignment with everything

scott: else I'd seen with this character.

Yeah. But who knows? This could be a brand new could have been his

Frank: flustered moment. And

scott: he was like, shit. At this point, we have to get to the twist. So if you are, I wanna watch this movie skip ahead. We'll tell you what movie we're doing next at the end, as slow as it was there. This was a really good morning movie.

Like if you woke up kind of hung over on a Saturday. So he starts to travel when he goes to California, Uhhuh, I really liked. The way he had to get there. Cause I kept being like, why do they get there pit and fucking cars full of dead bodies and stuff. Yeah. And he had to like go around and do car. Yeah.

You just make

Frank: your way through the pile up and find the car at the end and

scott: hope it starts. Yeah. A lot of that gas, if it had been years, it would've been

Frank: a nerve. Don't get me started in all these movies. Have you seen what happens to tires and cars that don't move. Yeah, they

scott: fucking

Frank: deflate. They decompose, they deflate.

They get all shitty. You get all

ked and fucked up half these [:

Frank: car. Yeah. These apocalypse movies, they don't get the tires right. Half, but

scott: also gasoline becomes inert. If you let a car sit for years, oil

Frank: turns into sludge in the bottom of that pan. Yeah. You don't have syrupy oil anymore.

You've got paste.

scott: Yeah. I've let a car sit for way too long. It doesn't start. .

Frank: Um, older cars, you could pour some gas in a carburetor, might get it kick started. Or if you have some ether and spray the ether in the carburetor, there's different ways. A lot of these cars now fuel injected. They don't have carburetors.

I'm just, okay. Won't get just the tires anyway.

scott: Sorry. It's true though. You're you're right. It's it's something I tend to put outta my head when I watch things like this. Mm-hmm that ruins my end of the world fantasy. The 100

Frank: dude, the 100. Oh yeah, those

scott: fucking tires. They're not there, man. It have been years, like half a century, the fucking tires.

Aren't three generations

ta one Hata cone, sky, crew. [:

I won't oh, fucking that reminded me of Murphy. Jesus Christ. Hated that guy. Murphy brown. No was like Candace burgeon. yeah Jesus Christ. No, God nineties TV. What happened to shoulder pads? They're back anyway. Yeah. Why, what you were saying was, yeah. The way he travels was awesome. You know, and it's just like, oh, there's a car.

This is very, you seem like a luxury SUV, then you seem like a little Mustang. Yeah.

scott: Whatever you do, no air conditioning. So I'm gonna let tied around

Frank: his head. I want you to handle the twist, cuz I want to hear what

scott: you think. Uh, without the twist ending, this movie would not have been as interesting to me.

I, I, I liked it. I wish it was more of the focus of the movie to be perfectly honest, because in the end of the movie, it's, it's, uh, some sort of behavior modification is happening with what's left of the human race in the United States. And there was a lot, like, I was like, well, who, who started that? Was he the doctor?

Yeah. [:

Frank: doctor, the doctor, or was he just like high enough in the

scott: ranks? I liked that. Like Charlotte Gainesboro sees. Dead body. She just bales. And then when they're driving outta town, like everyone's like creepy, happy. Oh. So, so by like, it looks like Stepford wives at certain

Frank: points in the movie, we'd seen that there was a scar on her.

I didn't bring that up. Cuz we were saving

scott: the twist part. I had written that down early in the movie too. Mm-hmm cause I was like, what the hell's this scar. Yeah. And

Frank: they kept alluding to, oh she's hiding this scar from him. Like she's ashamed of it. Well what is it though?

scott: Like he would fucking know. Yeah.

Like he would be like, what's that? Did you have

Frank: behavior modification? yeah. And I mean he, yeah, what I mean, not just like, oh, did you, did you have like a thing when you were a kid and that was like corrective surgery or something, you know? Yeah, yeah. Or you had a gymnastics. There were no questions. It was just her hiding.

Yeah. But once

scott: they like got in the car and they were leaving and she scratched the back of her neck, Charlotte scratched the back of her neck mm-hmm and she had it too. I was like, something weird is happening. Yeah. And that's when I got

Frank: excited. So yeah. Del finds them and he goes in and first he saves grace looking like Amy

scott: outta [:

What I was wondering was is Paul Giani not doing this behavior modification thing? That's what made me be like, is. Doctor, uh, what the fuck is going on? I wanted more, like there was a whole movie there. Yeah. Of what

Frank: happened to

scott: these survivors really into seeing, I do think they should have brought this twist stuff up more throughout the movie.

It should have been a more prevalent. So what did

Frank: he say? It's to help them forget

scott: the past? I that's what I liked about the twist. It still factored in this movie was. Grief mm-hmm and the fact that he was not willing to feel anything for the people in this town until he's suddenly alone again, then he goes after her and then he gets to this place where people don't wanna feel that, that loneliness and that need they're

Frank: living.

Like nothing ever happened. I mean, to me that almost ties into the like, we're all slaves to something to materialism, to this, to the,

scott: but they didn't delve into that so much.

Frank: They didn't. But did [:

scott: didn't really get into it. Yeah. It looked like the neighborhood from Edward scissor, their hands.

Yeah.

Frank: Manicured. Lenss the tick tacky house. Neon

scott: lady.

Kelly's been watching a show with, uh, that lady in, oh, the lady who played the mom in, uh, Edwards is her hands. Yeah. I forgot her name. I looked her up like yesterday, but, uh, yeah, she's on a sitcom with James Brolin seen life and pieces. That's what she's been watching. Comfort food kinda comfort, kinda like I keep being like, I kind wanna watch modern family again.

Never saw it. Oh, it's so good. I know.

Frank: It's great. People have told me they were like, you'd love it. Same thing with, that's always funny. You really would. You you'd

scott: love it. Yeah. Modern family. It's always sunny. One day. Ed. O'Neil always.

Frank: Especially when he runs

scott: a donut shop at Thanksgiving, we're watching Dutch.

Oh, when was the last time you watched Dutch?

at's my, that's my Hollywood [:

scott: the way, when Frank was in high school, he looked exactly like yeah's a

Frank: changed now.

He's higher. Sarah's skinnier than I am. he's much healthier than I am, but no, um, we had the same face sometimes. Yeah. Can't

scott: hardly wait, Ethan. Emry.

Frank: Yeah. I, and even at the video store, That all the fucking time they were like the can't hardly wait guy. I'm like, yep. Ethan Embry. I get somebody

scott: came into the video store at one point and they were like, weren't you in Friday night lights?

And I was. What are you talking about? Apparently they were talking about the guy who was in the show with Taylor Kitch, the other guy, blonde guy. Oh, that's who they were talking about, but I got real offended cuz I was like, you think, I look like the kid from sling blade

Frank: from, from Tokyo drift

scott: I was like, no.

This movie was great. It doesn't deserve the rating that it got. I understand it should be higher that not everybody likes a slide.

eah. Some of the movies that [:

I don't know what the fuck it is about 7.3, but Jesus Christ have the movies I love. Are 7.3.

scott: That's the thing with that we're doing with this podcast though? Those ratings, the internet mob is not right all the time. Yeah, no,

Frank: no. A lot of these seven point threes, I feel like should be a fucking nine at, you know, at least a nine.

scott: You know what I mean? I absolutely fucking think are genius. I think I bet you anything you could look on there and like Virgin suicides probably has a seven , you know, and that movie is fucking amazing. Yeah, it's not slow.

Frank: It's not, but a 5.7 for this one, that's really selling

scott: it short guys. No, that's like, what did you want when I complain about something?

It's because I like it and I want it to be better. Yeah. A lot of the time I rarely will complain about, I want to be entertained. So I don't go into things like hating stuff, but you read these reviews on IMDB about movies like this, and this was an honest. You know, more recently

ke affect my decision making [:

And I had to get out of it, man. I had to I'm like, don't fucking listen to these people. Like

scott: don't. Yeah. And I think that's give it a try. That's what these conversations, if

Frank: you're interested, let's give it a shot. Let's give it a go. If anything. 20 minute rule. You know what I'm saying? If you know, you are not feeling it and you don't think a zombie's gonna beat you with a horse Dick, and then rape you.

Like, if you don't get that real feeling, then just stop. But don't take some other guy's opinion. They

scott: don't know. And we're not always gonna know me and you like things. No one else likes sometimes, but I

Frank: mean like, you know, um, yeah, 5.7 on this one is just, that's

scott: kind of a, that's a low blow for and harsh.

You wanna give something to 5.7? You give melancholy. Yeah. Give it

Frank: a three. How'd you like my note about

scott: Kaylee from Firefly? Oh, that was interesting. That Kirsten DUNS basically took her whole career. She beat her out for all of, yeah. I follow Kaylee

Frank: from Firefly on TikTok and somebody who's like, what's the, that one role

scott: that got away.

Jules? Yeah. Her last name is I can't pronounce her. I know her last name Siete or

Frank: yeah. No, but [:

scott: seen, she auditioned to be. Interview

Frank: with a vampire. She auditioned to be an interview with a vampire, um, little women and Jumanji. She tried out for all of those and guess who got all those movies?

Nobody needed to do little women. Anyway,

scott: little women suck.

Frank: Fucking read the book. Yeah. It's fucking little women. Sorry, Winona. Sorry. If you're listening.

scott: you're afraid of offending Winona writer. I think Winona writer is unfundable. I don't know, man.

Frank: Did she steal make up back in the day? Get in trouble for that.

This is cuz she's

scott: badass. she's got a dark side. She grew up on a hippie com. Yeah. Yeah. She, she didn't even seen anything, but the wizard of Oz until she was like a teenager, you should see her play. Croquet Heather's is the shit , which is why next. We are doing a movie that was compared to Heather's when it was coming out, it theatrically kind of got missed.

It's called assassination nation written and directed by Sam Levinson, who was the creator of euphoria, which I haven't watched looks good. Hasn't really been a priority. Is he any relation

Frank: to [:

scott: Levinson? I don't know,

but the assassination nation movie, it is a extremely violent high school movie that stars Odesa young. Soy Waterhouse, Harry NEF. Sorry. If I'm not pronouncing that right. Abra

Frank: Abra. There's some crazy names

scott: that Abra is a Aras, a singer, Bella thorn, who? I feel like I've seen some stuff with her in it. I, I feel like maybe she was like one of the sex tape people.

I don't know, uh, mod towel Jud's daughter fucking, totally won me over with this as 40 and crying about the end of loss. That shit was, that was the last episode funny lost

Frank: did.

scott: And bill scars guard. Does not play a creepy weirdo in this that I know of. He looks like he might be playing a normal person, normalish person anyway.

And

Frank: I, and I love the way how it's like angel MC. Like we've got some really cool names. Joel McKay, Odessa, Suki ODI.

scott: Joelle has the [:

Frank: movie. Thanks for having the widest of white guy names. Joe

scott: Mihael. I love Joel Mihail. No, he's he's good. Joel. Maha's one of my favorite celebrities.

Don't

Frank: forget, Joe Maha did talk to, we need something

scott: a little more exciting this time.

Frank: Yeah, no. And I've neither one of us has seen it. Yeah. It's another

scott: one. Well, it's one that I, it hasn't been streaming. You showed

Frank: interest. You were, this was on our list a

About the Podcast

The Last Video Store Clerks
With Frank and Scott
The Last Video Store Clerks try to figure out what a good movie even is in the age of streaming. Are there still Cult Classics with no shelf to put them on? Something is missing. Former video store clerks Frank Roll and Scott Moran aim to find it. Or at least, comedy and a silver lining. What is a good movie anyway?
