Scream 6

[:

[00:00:09] Frank Roll: Hollywood and the independent

[:

[00:00:18] Scott Moran: Receive streaming services and ask the question, what the fuck is that? Does this hold up? And just, what the hell is a good movie? Anyway, I'm Frank Roll. I'm Scott Moran and we are the last video

[:

[00:00:40] Scott Moran: Oh, pull. Pull this back the pole. Take the pole in your mouth. Yeah. There you go. Yeah. Real close. Mm-hmm. Have you ever watched the Scream TV show? No. I wanted to, but I don't know. The mask was off budding that it wasn't the same mask. Well,

[:

[00:01:03] Scott Moran: I watched one of those. Yeah.

[:

[00:01:17] Frank Roll: Mm-hmm. Because I don't know, have I ever done, I don't think I ever did any of their shows. You know, back in the day, jackass view of some butthead

[:

[00:01:28] Scott Moran: I mean, that was their shows at the time. Well, in like Road

[:

[00:01:36] Scott Moran: kind of past the time of watching mtv. When they started doing TV shows like that. Mm-hmm. Uh, Bo Burnhams, I watched that one. Zack Stone gets Famous, but that was later. But that, that was early in that mm-hmm.

[:

[00:01:51] Frank Roll: I knew when, what's his name? Carson Daley popped up. Something was big, was gonna change and things were different. Oh, you're going that far back, dude, I was before that when I was first

[:

[00:02:02] Frank Roll: wasn't my so-called child, wasn't my so-called Life mtv or was that comedy?

[:

right.

[:

[00:02:20] Frank Roll: Just a couple months ago I did 'em all one through five.

[:

[00:02:24] Scott Moran: I liked five, but I liked six. Way better. Yeah,

[:

[00:02:29] Scott Moran: didn't take notes or anything. I just got lost in this one cuz I was really

excited.

[:

[00:02:37] Scott Moran: record. I mean, I'm me, so I looked a bunch of shit up as I was watching it, but I can't watch anything without IMD being the shit out of it.

[:

[00:02:53] Frank Roll: see, well that's, I kind of started doing that, but it was for the weird reasons. Like I saw Courtney Cox and I was like, how old is Courtney Cox? And I was just curious.

[:

[00:03:19] Frank Roll: Are you talking

[:

[00:03:21] Frank Roll: That Rev, you know, that whole thing, it sticks with me. So I wasn't gonna key for myself by looking at the cast before watching a scream movie that I didn't know that much about. By the

[:

[00:03:36] Scott Moran: Let's not spoil the end of things in a mini Roseanne's

[:

[00:03:44] Scott Moran: but also if you are listening to this, you should, uh, Probably should have seen it cause we're gonna

[:

[00:03:56] Frank Roll: There was a lot of sprinkling going on, lots of little Easter eggs and there's that bigger thing towards the end there

[:

[00:04:14] Scott Moran: No. Yeah, it renewed like my, oh shit. That guy's dangerous feeling. Mm-hmm. You know, when you watch a franchise forever, he was watching Jason takes Manhattan. Yes. When he like got home mm-hmm. From that cold open scene. Mm-hmm. And I loved the way that cold open played out. And you knew from the trailer you were like, his mask is old in this one.

[:

[00:04:45] Frank Roll: Well, I mean this is a story that has evolved over time. I mean, this started in the mid nineties dimension, wasn't it?

[:

I

[:

[00:04:58] Frank Roll: Is that what happened? Yeah. Did you notice like they accounted for her? Like it was mentioned in the story? Yeah, they

[:

[00:05:05] Scott Moran: Apparently Hayden Penner was supposed to be in the last movie, but they couldn't find her. Oh, she hasn't been in a movie since Scream. Four. Four.

[:

[00:05:16] Scott Moran: divorced. I think she probably just had kids or something, but she was on Nashville or something and they couldn't find her.

[:

[00:05:22] Frank Roll: random. No. Vital. She doesn't have an agent or anything. Heavyweight World champion of the world for years. Dude, that's her husband. That's who she had kids with. Oh God. I is it, I forget which

[:

[00:05:36] Frank Roll: bub, she's, well, it's out of those boxers.

[:

[00:05:54] Frank Roll: Um, they were both in boxing, but one of them was definitely more successful. God. So she, you know, did that for a while. Mom thing. Fucked a boxer. Dude, he had money from boxing. He was like at the prime of boxing world champ. Uh, it was probably a crazy good life. Hayden Panier coming back though, and she was like a hardcore looking FBI agent.

[:

[00:06:16] Scott Moran: that leather jacket was a little fucking elaborate for an F B I

[:

[00:06:34] Frank Roll: She looks different now. I was like, oh yeah, yeah. Just

[:

[00:06:40] Frank Roll: like Dermot Milone, dude. I didn't know that he was in it until I saw him and I was like, he would be the cop dad.

[:

[00:06:55] Frank Roll: friend he's getting married to.

[:

[00:07:06] Scott Moran: No, I've never like actually watched it. No. I say a little prayer on you, man. I have trouble, like the, the line as far as I go into the romantic comedy section is father of the bride.

[:

[00:07:19] Frank Roll: see, I think cuz I watched so many movies growing up until the Matthew McConaughey era of romcoms, I was kind of up to date. It's something about him doing like failure to launch and, uh, 10, whatever, you know, like as soon as he started popping those out, I was like, don't need it.

[:

[00:07:37] Scott Moran: It's my least favorite genre of

[:

[00:07:49] Scott Moran: musicals less. Yeah, you're right. You win. You win. That one called me up a bullshit

[:

[00:08:09] Scott Moran: Your favorite is one thing. You can't like Twizzlers, but you got a lot and Swedish kids. It's because I've diversified as I got older, you know, the palette changed. Like I can't say what my favorite book is cuz I don't have a favorite book. I have a favorite type of book. Uh,

[:

[00:08:26] Frank Roll: Like the Worn Mask, like did nice touch.

[:

[00:08:46] Scott Moran: It's like this two. It's just when I saw it, I was just at that age where I was like, this fucked up.

[:

[00:08:57] Scott Moran: I do. I do like that. I like that they used him less this time. The whole hologram dad thing, I was not a fan of that. In in five, not at all, but the reflection.

[:

[00:09:11] Frank Roll: one. Yeah. Like it was his trophy case, you know, like, and was that knife supposed to be like the original knife dude? Was that

[:

[00:09:25] Frank Roll: town, you know?

[:

[00:09:38] Scott Moran: up.

[:

[00:09:44] Scott Moran: how did Courtney Cox find that?

[:

[00:09:51] Frank Roll: oh, it was really paid for by someone else. Yeah. Because the way she explained it was they were actually

[:

[00:10:03] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. But I still, I just didn't know how she got to that investigative reporting. Scott. I know that was one of those times where I was like, right, I'm watching a fucking scream movie cuz the opener. And the convenience store really like got me to be like, oh yeah, this one's gonna be

[:

[00:10:24] Frank Roll: Do you have any thoughts on the

[:

[00:10:32] Frank Roll: about, well, he said something about why he had the ladder, but I'm like, you had

[:

[00:10:40] Scott Moran: Uh, you can usually guess about halfway through the episode, which person was it that we saw? Because they always show you the person. The killer is always in the first 10, 15 minutes of the show, of a 45 minute show. Then later there's some misdirects and stuff like that. But once you watch a police procedural for a while, you start to be able to figure out who it is and a good mystery like that.

[:

[00:11:17] Frank Roll: but in this one, they tried to keep you guessing a little bit more than usual.

[:

[00:11:22] Scott Moran: the misdirects were good. And I really liked that. I was guessing the whole time, but I still kind of knew my suspicions were, were right in the first place. I have, yeah, but like four got me. I didn't. I didn't get that one. Do you know what I mean though?

[:

[00:11:41] Frank Roll: one I was missing a part of it. This

[:

[00:11:48] Frank Roll: Yeah, they said it. Was it three? It was

[:

[00:11:54] Scott Moran: Yeah. I need to watch the first three again. It's been a good long while. I've seen one. In the last year, but not two and three and two. I've seen a few times, I don't think I've seen three more than one or two times in my life with the red

[:

[00:12:10] Scott Moran: I did like that they got it back for this one. Yeah, because it wasn't in five and it wasn't in four, I think, but it's in the

[:

[00:12:17] Frank Roll: Well, yeah. And the thing is, is you know, when you bring it back in, this one, the sixth one, are they, is

[:

[00:12:25] Frank Roll: you look, is there an, are they doing a seven or is this their nice stopping point for now? What do you mean?

[:

[00:12:32] Scott Moran: Oh, I don't know. I don't care. I know. Well, I think I'm not gonna be mad if they keep putting them out and I'm not going to be. Man, if they never make another

[:

[00:12:49] Frank Roll: But, you know, they're definitely, uh, you know, there's definitely a separation between the first three and the more recent three. And I just feel like, well, that's what you do. And then, you know, a decade from now,

[:

[00:13:06] Scott Moran: Yeah. She finally gets paid what She's supposed to get paid.

[:

[00:13:28] Frank Roll: Did you see the reoccurring uh, product in this one? Was it Celsius? No. It was like, it was, it was actually, I wasn't gonna pull some bullshit. Coors Light man. Coors. Oh yeah. Coors Light was front and center three fucking times that I noticed, and the first time was when the cute guy across the across the way comes into the lobby and looks at her product.

[:

[00:14:09] Frank Roll: Who the fuck walks up holding a six

[:

[00:14:14] Frank Roll: more, and then in the surveillance van,

[:

[00:14:19] Frank Roll: I didn't notice it there, but I noticed it three times after that. So I'm like, surely it was at the frat

[:

[00:14:30] Scott Moran: That's the same sorority, Sarah Michelle Geller. Isn't it too nice?

[:

[00:14:35] Scott Moran: No, the beginning of two is Jada Pinkett Smith and, uh, was it not Tay Diggs? Omar Epps. Omar Epps. I always get those two guys confused. Me too.

[:

[00:14:45] Scott Moran: time. Omar Fs was in a, uh, in like an N Vogue video.

[:

[00:14:56] Frank Roll: uh, the program, did you ever watch that one? It's got the guy from a river runs through it. You're talking about Brad Pitt firing the sky. You know, he was like the bag firing. The one who was like the biggest suspect.

[:

[00:15:18] Scott Moran: Oh yeah. Yeah.

[:

[00:15:24] Frank Roll: He was Texas Chainsaw Massacre of the oh three.

[:

[00:15:30] Frank Roll: son. Oh, fuck Yeah. And so, um,

[:

[00:15:36] Frank Roll: Yeah. Um, but uh, you know what else he was in, I think it was the oh three Texas Chainsaw Oscar. He was leatherface. Oh. Mm-hmm. But he pops up in all kinds of shit.

[:

[00:15:49] Scott Moran: Um, wait, was oh three McConaughey?

[:

[00:15:58] Scott Moran: Zellweger in that too? Yes. That's the one though. I like that one. I'll defend it to the death. It was so fun when it came out, like I was like, this is great.

[:

[00:16:21] Frank Roll: Well, no. Well, so that big jacked up guy, I know him as LaMer from the program, but Omar s was in that, I feel like that was 94 maybe 93, 95, somewhere in there.

[:

[00:16:31] Scott Moran: Sorry. Don't remember. I started doing Don't know anything about that movie.

[:

[00:16:41] Scott Moran: these minis though. Yeah, we don't have any fucking outline. Tay Digs.

[:

[00:16:47] Frank Roll: We've talked about go a couple of times. I think we should do Go for the hell of it. I haven't seen that movie in

[:

[00:16:55] Frank Roll: and Sarah Polly's like

[:

[00:17:01] Scott Moran: That one was good.

[:

[00:17:21] Frank Roll: liked. Well, had she never really, like, never been on the phone with him before?

[:

[00:17:41] Frank Roll: I've watched more of those lately,

[:

[00:17:53] Frank Roll: I was talking to somebody at work about this movie, they were like, oh, don't watch those. Cuz it's like, it's one of those things that's like fucked up.

[:

[00:18:00] Scott Moran: well, Yeah, that's why it's the scariest. I think I commented on somebody's Instagram account, like they put up a bunch of different things and I was like, well, I mean, ghost Face could be your fucking grandmother. She wants to staff you. So that's kind of fucked up. Uh, doll Anabel not it's scary.

[:

[00:18:20] Frank Roll: Not scary when Aunt Jackie is the killer.

[:

[00:18:25] Frank Roll: will fuck Gail. Weathers up. Um, yeah, I didn't have a ton of notes. You know, I did say, you know, there's certain things in, you know, the rules. Well, the rule, I'll be

[:

[00:18:35] Frank Roll: are no rules.

[:

[00:18:38] Scott Moran: closet? That was pretty dumb of her. If she had just chilled, she was,

[:

[00:18:53] Frank Roll: Why leave the closet? I mean, I know there's some obvious things in horror movies. It's like, well it's cuz it's a horror movie. They've gotta make the bad decision. You're panicking, right? Like you're not straight train of thought. Yeah. They have to make you

[:

[00:19:02] Frank Roll: Yeah, no. Um, run right into the killer's arms.

[:

[00:19:22] Scott Moran: Like, well, I thought she was dead. I was, I was cool with

[:

[00:19:25] Frank Roll: But they don't acknowledge her for the remainder

[:

[00:19:29] Frank Roll: another one? I mean, I wasn't even going. I mean, that is an open door. The

[:

[00:19:39] Frank Roll: Dewey, yeah. Yeah. Taking out Dewey and five was

[:

[00:19:45] Scott Moran: I think it would've been weird to pull him to. Manhattan,

[:

[00:19:51] Scott Moran: after all that time being sheriff and shit.

[:

[00:19:56] Scott Moran: Would you go to New York and be a PI though? Yeah. Unbelievable.

[:

[00:20:03] Scott Moran: one too.

[:

[00:20:09] Scott Moran: course it is. They used it though. They did. I didn't feel like it was a longer scream movie.

[:

[00:20:22] Scott Moran: Yeah. That really, you got me on board there. Mm-hmm. Like I liked that it started out with a ghost face. Kill another ghost face. Mm-hmm. Threw me a little bit for a loop where I was pretty excited

[:

[00:20:35] Scott Moran: little more Michael Myers this time. Yeah.

[:

[00:20:49] Scott Moran: is the way you drug it out too. Yeah, really. And it got

[:

[00:20:56] Frank Roll: Well

[:

[00:21:01] Frank Roll: and think about it. So it's obviously around Halloween, right? Isn't that what we're assuming? All the hell, yes. Okay, so sure it's around Halloween, you got lots of people in costume, but then you've got fucked up people and you know, if you're that fucked up, out partying, I think you could be passed out on a subway spot, like you know, on the bench and next thing you know, like somebody's getting shanked right next to you and then you're like, oh shit.

[:

[00:21:27] Scott Moran: AirPods in. I mean, that's how you kind of gotta live when you live in a place like New York. Yeah. Can't be looking. Yeah. That's how you get killed. Being nervous.

[:

[00:21:40] Scott Moran: there if you ever go on my car. Yeah. You walk like, you know where you're going, even if you're lost. Mm-hmm. Like always. Mm-hmm. But my parents used to ingrain that in me when I was a kid and we were in Pittsburgh.

[:

[00:21:58] Frank Roll: God is the older one. Samantha, Sam, Billy's daughter.

[:

[00:22:09] Scott Moran: Yes. Becau, we don't know.

[:

[00:22:18] Scott Moran: Huey. Jack, Jack, wait. Yeah. I can't wait for them to make a scream movie with none of the original people. Something

[:

[00:22:31] Scott Moran: fresh. Yeah. It's okay that they're like, you know, bring in people

[:

[00:22:35] Frank Roll: So would you, uh, would you go for a copycat or would you go for someone who's tied into the original storyline but not one of those main people you're talking

[:

[00:22:53] Scott Moran: It's like a dingo. He's got like a red sp up down his face.

[:

[00:23:13] Scott Moran: all of Sydney, Australia.

[:

[00:23:18] Frank Roll: It was good. It, you know. Any horror movie you have to expect a level of corniness at times or like, uh, continuity or just like how, uh, what's her name? Mindy? Uh, one from Leftovers. Uh, what's her name? Savoy Brown. Jasmine Savoy Brown. Yes. From Yellow Jackets.

[:

[00:23:41] Scott Moran: Those twins are fucking unkillable. Apparently. It's those, uh, Those old Randy Jeans.

[:

[00:23:55] Scott Moran: Maybe that is why there's going to be, there might be another why they kept, kept flirting with it.

[:

[00:24:06] Frank Roll: her knife skills, and I feel like they emphasized that on purpose. You know what I mean? Like that was like, Focus on this because dude, her shit was like, shit. You know, she was, she had, yeah, she's kinda technique.

[:

[00:24:20] Scott Moran: Yeah. And I like that.

[:

[00:24:33] Scott Moran: Yeah. That scene was rowdy. Yeah. I liked that.

[:

[00:24:42] Scott Moran: reason to blame his children. Yeah. But

[:

[00:24:52] Scott Moran: yeah.

[:

[00:25:09] Scott Moran: Oh, to do Dungeons and Dragons? Dungeon Dragons, yeah. We need another mini, I'm probably gonna put this mini up this week,

[:

[00:25:18] Scott Moran: to do kitten caboodle. We don't even need to have a next time, since it's a mini. What do you do with your noodle?

[:

[00:25:30] Frank Roll: You can find us on Twitter at Last Clerks Instagram at the last video store clerks, and you can find Scott at dispatches from the pit.com.
