Buffy the Vampire Slayer (:

[00:00:00] Scott: Welcome everyone to the last video store Clerk's podcast with Frank and Scott.

[:

[00:00:11] Scott: are over, but searching the shelves for that special overlooked movie will never end the one that really sticks with you forever. Let's drown ourselves in a sea streaming services and ask the question, What the fuck is that?

[:

[00:00:28] Frank: the last video store clerks.

[:

[00:00:42] Scott: Stop. Why call her Sur? Oh, this is my new one. She doesn't know that you say it in a Boston accent. Sorry. Hi, sorry. Sur . I'm not from Boston. Obviously not, not not from Boston. Do you like apples? I like apples.

[:

[00:01:03] I always thought it was horse. That there's 20 different fucking apples at the grocery store. Uhhuh grocery store. .

[:

[00:01:12] Frank: sugar bee apples

[:

[00:01:22] It's not all gritty and nasty. I haven't looked up the history of sugar. They probably haven't been around very long. You know, Thomas Jefferson had some fucking list of like all of his favorite apples and none of them exist anymore. ? Nuh, yeah. Not a single one of 'em. It's kinda like how, uh, bananas are the same banana just cloned over and over again.

[:

[00:01:47] Frank: Jesus Christ. I felt like I was, in my mind, I was like, he .

[:

[00:01:59] what'd you watch

[:

[00:02:04] Scott: Walka wea Devil. Is it

[:

[00:02:13] Scott: this is really serious. The things I watched in the past three days

[:

[00:02:21] Now that I think about it. Anyway, I watched Devil, We talked about it. Yeah, we did talk about it. I saw it

[:

[00:02:30] Frank: didn't get to look into it. Oh, I just, I confirmed that M Night.

[:

[00:02:36] Frank: weird. We were off. But it had that vibe, you know?

[:

[00:02:42] Scott: were watching Devil Him slide inside you a little bit, Just little, Just the tip night .

[:

[00:02:51] Scott: again, again. Feeling of the night, .

[:

[00:03:01] It was good. I saw it on a streaming service like a couple years

[:

[00:03:04] Scott: That was the first time I watched it. There was some spooky shit in there. It was

[:

[00:03:16] Scott: His droppings. Yeah, his droppings while he fucks you. Yeah. The bread crumbing it. .

[:

[00:03:26] Scott: Halloween phase. We, we have one show that isn't Halloween oriented. Mm-hmm. , So

[:

[00:03:38] The Peacock original. Actually, no. It's just streaming exclusively on peacock, but like written, directed, produced, starring BJ Novak, What's that

[:

[00:03:53] Frank: So that's the thing. It's funny, it's on Peacock.

[:

[00:04:10] Scott: New York. I guess he's friends with all those comedians and stuff like that. I, you

[:

[00:04:14] Scott: in with all of them.

[:

[00:04:26] Frank: going around the internet that he was, you know, on it. He seemed like he was on drugs.

[:

[00:04:38] Scott: rubbing himself and shit.

[:

[00:04:45] I'm gonna watch it.

[:

[00:04:54] Frank: Great movie. I wanna say very well done movie. You can't take it completely serious the whole time, but it's got the comedy, it's got some drama. It, it's a guy who's.

[:

[00:05:20] Oh, so you've

[:

[00:05:23] Frank: interesting. Yeah. This kind of uppity dude who's like a writer. I haven't seen people nail Tex. In rural areas like this movie did. The

[:

[00:05:40] So

[:

[00:05:49] Scott: Well there was a, What was that, Steve Zon. Paris, Texas. Yes. Yeah, I did. That

[:

[00:06:11] Scott: heated.

[:

[00:06:14] Frank: assuming there's always other, Is he from here in. I doubt it. You doubt

[:

[00:06:29] Frank: Let's just do it. Massachusetts, we were just comedy people

[:

[00:06:39] Frank: about basing. Anyway, Vengeance. Good movie. I chuckled. I was like, what the. Yeah, I had to look up the guy, the other guy who was in it, because I know him from like Narcos. Like that's all that I know him from.

[:

[00:06:58] Scott: only prepared materials.

[:

[00:07:11] Scott: You know, he's the predator. Oh, before I forget, Kelly was telling me that, uh, she always thinks Thomas Jane and Aaron Eck.

[:

[00:07:30] fucking

[:

[00:07:31] Scott: Baker. Yeah. She always confuses him with them. I thought that was really interesting. I wouldn't do that.

[:

[00:07:53] Frank: Well, one other thing I have to say is they did point out the fact that one of the Six Flags over Texas is the Confederate

[:

[00:08:01] Frank: the flag of the Confederate states of

[:

[00:08:03] That's fucked up. Is this still open? Did you look? Six

[:

[00:08:18] Scott: Where is it? Like Lubbock or something ?

[:

[00:08:24] I guess I never really knew what it was

[:

[00:08:28] Frank: the thing, the, Do you know what the Six Flags Over Texas are? No. The six countries that have owned Texas. Oh, Six Flags over Texas. So guess what? One of those countries that owned Texas was

[:

[00:08:40] Frank: Yeah. Yes. So when you go to a six flag seat

[:

[00:08:49] Frank: I'm not asking to erase all of history, but it just seems odd. One of the flags of the Six Flags over tech. It makes perfect sense and I feel like a jackass being from here.

[:

[00:09:11] Scott: vengeance. Okay. Yeah. When I roll outta my horror,

[:

[00:09:18] Scott: I feel like, uh. It's only been three days since we talked, so I only watched one movie. But what I would like to get before Halloween has done, I want to get a Japanese movie in, mm-hmm. , maybe one from the seventies, eighties for a movie. Something I haven't seen. Problem is, there's not a lot of that left for me to explore, which is kind of a bummer, man.

[:

[00:09:37] Frank: for one you've never seen, you're just gonna have to pick a Randa

[:

[00:09:54] The medical. Oh yeah, him too. Him.

[:

[00:10:06] but then I watched Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. How was that? Holy fuck. A more original horror movie I have not seen in a very long time. Original story. Ah, you're gonna love this movie,

[:

[00:10:20] Scott: before. Nope, not just. And I feel like it fits with what we're doing today.

[:

[00:10:52] I really, uh, just the, the craziness of it was really impressive cuz I really didn't know how it was gonna go down or what was gonna happen. I've never played that game. I was

[:

[00:11:05] Scott: watch it soon. So everyone knows it dropped in price on Amazon. It's not $20 anymore. So 5 99 worth every fucking penny.

[:

[00:11:28] I love it. Solid,

[:

[00:11:32] Scott: bodies to paradise. Oh no. weirdly, one of our most listened to episodes. Yeah, Maybe it's an Emma Roberts thing. I think people are like, What the fuck is that? Yeah, kinda like the special

[:

[00:11:51] Frank: I mean, if you're ever curious, just check out the cover of the special.

[:

[00:11:57] Frank: surprised the shit outta me when we were scrolling and it's. There's this special on Peacock.

[:

[00:12:03] Peacock.

[:

[00:12:13] Scott: platform. I tried to get you to watch that and you started it. Think that was two years before we started this podcast, , and it was the second episode we did.

[:

[00:12:30] Frank: As soon as just said the mom. I was like, From what? From what? From what ? What's he gonna say? What direction is it going? Uh,

[:

[00:12:39] Frank: got some more screen Queens in there.

[:

[00:12:41] Scott: I did. And, uh, for this, since today, we're doing Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which it may be one of my all time favorite movies, having re-watched it this time, Buffy.

[:

[00:13:03] Frank: Got you. Some smg, some Sarah, Michelle

[:

[00:13:09] Frank: here. . I know. I

[:

[00:13:18] She was like, You love fire. Just watch it. And I was like, I'll do it, but I'm not watching Angel. And I never

[:

[00:13:29] Scott: I couldn't, I fell off Dawson's Creek pretty quickly and then, uh, I watched it here and there when it was on.

[:

[00:13:37] Frank: hard to say or hear Dawson's Creek without hearing the poll. Cole, slowly did it pop into your head

[:

[00:13:48] Frank: People love to use that song like the one she has a, She has a few.

[:

[00:13:56] Scott: She did, She did. My mom used to. I don't wanna shave . It was mesmerizing. Sing it along with the song in the car, . That's awesome. She'd say, I, I don't wanna shave till my armpits grow over. .

[:

[00:14:16] Probably not. But why does everybody know that? Is that just the staple of that video?

[:

[00:14:33] Frank: weirder than that.

[:

[00:14:46] Frank: scarred. Well, I feel like even Beavers and Butthead has an episode where there's a Bjork video.

[:

[00:14:50] Scott: think I vaguely remember that. Have you watched any of the new Beavers and Butthead? No. No, not yet. It's on Paramount, right? I

[:

[00:15:00] Scott: movie when it comes up. I'm trying to get through the last two fucking years of these other two streaming services.

[:

[00:15:11] Scott: Not. I know I'm pretty proving that every day I just, Fuck, I wanna watch more. But you watch this on peacock. Because I watched my Blueray, my 25th anniversary Blueray of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that I never opened, and I think it's uh, probably 30 years old now.

[:

[00:15:36] Frank: movie is 30 years old. 92, I remember. Yeah. Okay, so it's a 92, the movie's

[:

[00:15:53] It was sealed. No, it was sealed. I, I mean, I've just seen the movie Oh. Since buying that blue ring. Gotcha. Possibly.

[:

[00:16:04] Scott: Really? Really? Wow. I watched this a lot when I was a kid.

[:

[00:16:12] Scott: it was all there.

[:

[00:16:19] Frank: ass. Yes. Sometimes those special. It's like the dvd. I forgot. It

[:

[00:16:33] Frank: Or have you ever seen that? Avatar Collector's edition, Blueray?

[:

[00:16:43] Frank: tracks. The avatar, I believe has three different cuts from James

[:

[00:16:49] Frank: King of Epic movies. Did you ever see the, the scenes from the Abyss that weren't in the

[:

[00:16:57] Or were they just dumb shit? It's so

[:

[00:17:04] Scott: Dude, there is a title. I don't know if that makes it better though. There's a

[:

[00:17:11] Scott: I could be interested in that. I'll say no more. If you can find it.

[:

[00:17:23] Frank: Damn it. Buffy Blue. Collector's edition,

[:

[00:17:34] All the TV spots with the voiceover . Buffy was a normal teen. Also, that guy who did all those. Movie Trailers action movies in particular, the, the narrated this feature at On the Blueray and it was fucking inappropriate . Was it overkill? Yeah. It was like, that's really intense for what you have, what you're showing us right now.

[:

[00:18:19] Frank: I was just about to check out something else, like while you were talking and then I got caught. I felt like I, I was like, wait. Yeah, wait. I had put responsibilities. Yeah, I had to put that away real quick. I was like, wait, I was just gonna peek at some shit. You caught me. You know, What even the fuck was I looking at?

[:

[00:18:39] High school senior Buffy Summers

[:

[00:18:48] Scott: a good story, but every now and then you'd have to let him have one of his coffin fits. If you tried to stop him in the

[:

[00:18:57] Scott: Oh, it's all right folks. Tonight I think

[:

[00:19:02] Fifa Fa. Far

[:

[00:19:09] Frank: Son Gravity. Boom. Played by Christie Swanson, High School Senior Buffy Summer's. Primary concerns are cheerleading. Planning the senior dance and shopping with a rich, elitist friends. But when she's approached after cheerleading practice by a man calling himself Merrick, played by Donald Sutherland, who claims she is the chosen one, the slayer destined to kill vampires, and says, As a watcher, it is his duty to guide and trainer.

[:

[00:19:43] Scott: God. Yeah, right. Strange. I

[:

[00:19:54] After a few successful patrols hunting vampires, she's soon drawn into conflict with Vampire King Lottos, played by Rucker Hower and his acolyte. Amlin, played by Pewy Herman himself. Paul Rubins. Paul Rubins Was this before? This was

[:

[00:20:08] Frank: was after jail.

[:

[00:20:11] Uh, first was Batman. So glad

[:

[00:20:15] Scott: for this. Yeah, thanks Tim Burton. Thank you. Getting him back in the game. Plus, this is unbeatable. This is his finest moment. Yeah, even better than Hamburger

[:

[00:20:54] Scott: And I do think, uh, that makes it sound more serious than it is because this in Heather's. Felt very similar to me. Also watching this movie made me wanna watch Near Dark. The Fuck Was Near Dark was that Bill Paxton, uh, Lance Hendrickson, uh, the guy who played the senator in the Heroes that Could Fly in Heroes.

[:

[00:21:34] Mm. It is on some weird Amazon channel though. But you can't even rent

[:

[00:21:41] Scott: butter experiment. Oh yeah, The peanut butter Solution. Solution. Yeah. We looked that up. Something about, we mentioned in the, uh, Return to Oz episode that traumatized the shit out of, No, I got the same feeling up there with lost boys to me.

[:

[00:21:55] Frank: find the movie where they're in like a desert scenario, , and somehow they generate like it's, they're like fucking with like, I feel like teens are kids again. And this guy makes this kid think that answer crawl all over his hand and then they're gone.

[:

[00:22:13] At the last video story clerks on Instagram at last clerks on Twitter. There

[:

[00:22:35] Intimidate them. They put their hand over this light, I want to say, and like, it's fine. And then all of sudden there's all these answers. They're like, Ah. And the answer are gone do. And there's, It was almost like the maggots in Lost Boys, you know? It's just a trick of the mind. But this was a little more, Oh, right.

[:

[00:22:53] Scott: ran .

[:

[00:22:57] Scott: Lawnmower man. We should watch that one someday.

[:

[00:23:03] Scott: was so cool. Oh my God. I wanted that fucking jacket. The, that he gives her, Oh, that was the coolest fucking, And my leather jacket now kind of looks like that one.

[:

[00:23:18] Frank: everything. The

[:

[00:23:25] Frank: style is back now. So a lot of the things in that movie are out there right now. Coachella is big on Buffy wardrobe. You're probably

[:

[00:23:39] I didn't see it in the theater or anything like that. I remember those jots she's wearing. Made me feel real funny when I was a kid. Plus she's nipping the whole

[:

[00:23:54] When I watched it the first time a couple weeks ago, I was like, damn, they're, They're just making that so obvious in the locker room scene. Like when he comes up, there's a point where like she flashes it and then it's just the flannel over is conveniently laid just along the curve there. And I'm like,

[:

[00:24:18] And so when Sarah Michelle Keller became it, I was like, No, . I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan. I know other Joss Whedon fans, That's his baby. He took it somewhere else. It's great. Also, Joss Whedon kind of problematic at the moment, or always was, what's his name? Ray uh Fisher. From Justice League kind of outed him for being a piece of shit to ca.

[:

[00:25:03] That kid from fucking The Shining has never been in anything again. When

[:

[00:25:09] Scott: I'm glad that's ending. But reading about this movie kind of makes me wonder if, uh, some of that didn't originate here. It looks like this was the first. He, I'll just give you a little film history of it, of course, Written by Joss Whedon and directed by Fran Ruble.

[:

[00:25:47] Frank: back.

[:

[00:25:54] Scott: weird. Okay. Yeah. Long story won't get into that. Natasha Gregson Wagner, who is Natalie Wood's daughter. She was in, uh, another day in Paradise with James Woods, directed by the guy Direct Larry, What was the name?

[:

[00:26:33] Water world and twister. Wow. He's really good at story. Stories have to hit parts, and Buffy is a perfect hero's

[:

[00:26:43] Scott: The original idea that became this script was originally called Rhonda, the immortal waitress. And when it became Buffy, this was originally slated to Star Alyssa Milano.

[:

[00:27:16] Is that what got left in the

[:

[00:27:18] Scott: I don't know. It kind of seems like they, they may have cut it up a little bit, like maybe mixed or maybe she didn't know how to tell him, Man, . No. And she was just like, We'll just shoot it and we'll cut it. We'll just cut around it. Old Kazu, old Ka.

[:

[00:28:00] No way. And they bring it up in the TV show, but I remember being like, Said they burn the gym down and I guess he was just like, I'm gonna treat this. Like that movie never happened. It's hard to do that when you're, especially when you're a kid and grew up with something and then they make something out of it.

[:

[00:28:16] Frank: in Buffy the Vampire, the movie was a big deal.

[:

[00:28:20] Frank: sure. No, my circle at the time, we were all about Buffy.

[:

[00:28:38] Frank: West

[:

[00:28:40] West Virginia, . I won a cake walk that year, . It was carrot. Also, uh, with, just to say, uh, we know Christy Swanson was in a play about Donald Trump. I didn't know that until you told me today. It was like Obama gate or something like that. Great. Yeah.

[:

[00:29:03] Scott: Kane Superman.

[:

[00:29:09] Frank: Fucking hope not . That'll be the day. God. Dean Kane too. Well, Dean Kane doesn't surprise me. You know, he's like college football player before the Superman thing.

[:

[00:29:19] Frank: doesn't surprise me at all. That's what I'm saying. Dean Kane doesn't, but Christie Swanson. I mean, I guess I didn't, I didn't know

[:

[00:29:26] I guess that's why she wasn't in the psych movie.

[:

[00:29:36] Scott: with Charlie Sheen. Yeah, I know What's funny is the line in this where

[:

[00:29:46] Scott: So that line was originally. Charlie Sheen. No way. Yeah. And when I read it, the blogger was like, Thankfully it was changed away from Charlie Sheen.

[:

[00:30:04] Frank: Oh man, it's terrible. Men, you know, I haven't seen Men at Work in years, years, years.

[:

[00:30:13] Frank: Remember what I have? Remember somebody ordering me pizza so I could watch it on a bed?

[:

[00:30:17] Scott: that was the time when Charlie Sheen was so fucking cool. But the Chase is a good movie. not a good movie.

[:

[00:30:32] Scott: right. And I love a flea cameo period.

[:

[00:30:43] It's the guy who's like Newman. It's the Newes guy. I know

[:

[00:30:51] Frank: Don't let the Newman Kins get you . Anyway, yeah, the Chase was amazing. Um, you know, we, we talked about Deadly Friend. Thinking back, we've talked about it before.

[:

[00:31:12] Scott: happening. Yeah, mine was returned to Oz

[:

[00:31:22] Scott: group.

[:

[00:31:35] Frank: Deadly Friend was Old man? Deadly Friend is like at the very beginning of her shit. Uh, What was Deadly Friend?

[:

[00:31:43] Scott: like it's like 89. Oh, it was definitely eighties. It's gotta be the tail end of it though. Cause she's 21 in B.

[:

[00:31:50] Scott: 2021. Okay. Deadly Friend. 86.

[:

[00:32:02] It's the, It's the guy from the boy who, the boy.

[:

[00:32:20] Frank: Wow. Christie Swans. You used to be Hot ,

[:

[00:32:27] Frank: She was in hot shots. Weird. That is weird. She was in hot shots before she was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Wow. My goodness. The program. That was the other one that I had recognized last night. College football movie LaMer. The big football guy. The one who's like the big football guy.

[:

[00:32:50] Scott: dude. You know what I did pay attention to with this movie a little more this time than I had previous times was the kind of change Buffy goes through.

[:

[00:33:02] Yeah. And then she ends up like Hillary Swank and the

[:

[00:33:12] Frank: fitting in with the Heather's, she

[:

[00:33:23] That's

[:

[00:33:32] Scott: Yeah. So there we went. Did you watch it with her? Yeah. Okay, good.

[:

[00:33:37] Scott: though now. Right on.

[:

[00:33:44] Scott: Oh, for sure. Is that why you got that shirt? So you could make sure No one else would forget that John Carpenters Christine was, They

[:

[00:33:53] Scott: like it or did they, Were they like, That's stupid. Let's make fun of Frank and get this shirt.

[:

[00:34:00] Scott: it the way we like it. It's hard to show somebody something that was beloved to you and have it hold up the way it was. I was very fortunate, you know, that's maybe why I'm married, is because I showed Kelly Evil Dead and then she kept watching all of the stuff after that. So you find the winners and I was like, Oh, you could hang.

[:

[00:34:32] Frank: she's hot. Not my thing. I'm just. Hillary swing gets hot. , it's fine. People can think what they want. The last movie I saw her in was a weird one with, uh, Negan.

[:

[00:34:47] Scott: Morgan. Oh fuck. But uh, the girl with the perm in Buffy, she hasn't been in much, but what she was in is troll too. Really.

[:

[00:34:59] Scott: boyfriend, right?

[:

[00:35:09] Frank: Oh man. Quality of filming that Buffy was, I expected a lot of continuity, error. Or issues? Not a ton. I was looking really hard just so I could kind of pick at something cuz I, I love the movie. I'll always love Buffy, but I was like, maybe there's something I can pick out a little bit. One thing kind of bothered me when, uh, Peewee busted through the roof of the van.

[:

[00:35:35] Scott: that bother you. I did you notice it that to Yeah, I did. I was like, Is that to like, It didn't bother me. I knew exactly what happened there. They wanted Can't see his, You

[:

[00:35:43] Yeah. Cause unless we have this

[:

[00:35:47] Frank: lie, I hit she a lot. . Yes. I, uh, I hit rewind to watch it again, and then I hit rewind to watch it again. Oh. I wanted to know, did they at least time the light and it was timed very well, automatic. All right. So you gotta give it to 'em.

[:

[00:36:07] Frank: I'm glad that you said the same thing that I was thinking, cuz I'm like, that has to be it.

[:

[00:36:21] Frank: Well, and, and then not so much a continuity thing, but I, the exterior gem shot. What is

[:

[00:36:30] Frank: And this was clearly like on a set somewhere. It was all concrete. And then there's fence posts, like there's a couple cars, but like no lines. Then there's like fence posts in what looks like a, uh, stained concrete floor, ,

[:

[00:36:44] Frank: It's just how much detail did not go into the

[:

[00:37:04] You gotta give it up to Buffy the Vampire Slay the TV show because the fight choreography in that is immaculate compared to this movie. But it didn't even really matter. It wasn't really about the.

[:

[00:37:25] Wow. Oh my God. So this is, you know, there's clearly a fucking vampire playing basketball , but everybody freaks out when a girl gets on the court, there's a girl on the court, there's a girl, there's a guy with fangs taunting. Fucking with everybody. Oh my God, I didn't even

[:

[00:37:41] Frank: Yeah, like there's clearly something wrong with him and everybody in the gym is like, There's a girl on on court, ,

[:

[00:37:52] Frank: and they were just used to it.

[:

[00:38:00] Scott: graduate. It feels like genre wise, those are same Camp Teen Wolf and Buffy the Vampire. I feel like actually I had related them in my head somehow. Yeah. I mean, it might be the basketball thing.

[:

[00:38:14] Scott: day though. Yeah, we all wanted to see that. You don't see it all that often. Sports just, It's from the heart. Everything. It's from the heart. Ben Affleck. So fa, it didn't even sound like him. So did you get all the, The little early cames, early little ones.

[:

[00:38:34] Frank: I didn't write any down.

[:

[00:38:44] Okay. Who are they? End dancing. Pike kicks a vampire in the face. Mm-hmm. , Seth Green really, who's also in Buffy the vampire slay of the series claims he was in it more and was cut out of it. Hold on. But you really only see the back of his head. One second of his face in vampire makeup. I,

[:

[00:39:04] There's a guy, do you remember a movie called The Stone Age? Yeah, I do. So the, not the dude who looks kind of, uh, you know,

[:

[00:39:20] Scott: kind is got Eddie better.

[:

[00:39:26] Scott: Oh, weird. Anyway, so nobody, I'm getting their name. You, other than I didn't know his name, but the,

[:

[00:39:36] Did you notice that one? No, I didn't

[:

[00:39:39] Frank: sure the guy from That's a little obscure though. . Yeah, because. The guy from the Stone Age, I think he played the same type of character in every movie that he was in. I just remember the Stone Age, cuz I thought it was one of the first movies.

[:

[00:39:51] Scott: like so slow. One of the slowest movies I've ever seen. Weren't there boobs in a hot tub though or something? Yeah, there's lots of, uh, wasn't like the only song in the movie, Don't Fear the Reaper. The

[:

[00:40:02] Scott: right?

[:

[00:40:04] Frank: Um, anyway, that guy, So

[:

[00:40:11] Frank: they're eating and she's before the hot dog,

[:

[00:40:20] Frank: So that's cool because that was close to serial mom.

[:

[00:40:24] Scott: close. So she did two horror movies, possibly the same production company. Yeah. And then this one was the one I really had to check. Hmm. Because I was like, No fucking way. His boss at the mechanic. At the, The garage. Mm-hmm. , That's Thomas fucking Jane. Shut up. I swear. He was in this, I was watching the Blueray on my PlayStation, and I was kind of hoping I could take screen grabs.

[:

[00:40:48] Scott: get home. Go check it. It's him very young and with a beard, but yeah, he's like clumsy. He falls out of his chair, but you can see it in the smile. That's what I. Because I was like, Oh my God. Is that Tom Jane? Well, and he's listed in the credits as Tom James.

[:

[00:41:16] Frank: no, I did, I'll have to. Who was, I didn't look it up. I won't ask you who it was. The basketball coach was

[:

[00:41:29] Frank: but that guy was somebody, I just didn't do the deep dig.

[:

[00:41:33] Scott: already older than he did look recognizable. But I think that I recognized him from that time. I think that Thomas

[:

[00:41:39] Scott: the best one. That's why I saved it for last. That's even though that one is actually the one that comes earlier, I

[:

[00:41:46] Cause I really was keeping an eye out. And to be honest, I didn't even make a note of the Stone Age. But I did see him.

[:

[00:42:05] Mm-hmm. . The Benny scene when he's floating outside his window is one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever. . I love that scene. Oh man. Get outta you're. Floating man. Get away from me. . How fast do you think you got that gold vampire tooth made? I

[:

[00:42:25] So young. So young. Luke Perry was a baby. David Arquette looked like a baby. Hillary Swank was like fresh out the box.

[:

[00:42:41] Frank: that was her. Okay. That was swank. All right. But that was like 94, 95, I wanna

[:

[00:42:48] Then I hadn't noticed before. Pike has, uh, dog tags on, and I didn't know if that was just nineties fashion or if he was supposed to be like a vet. Did you find out

[:

[00:42:57] Scott: supposed to be? No, no one even has last names. I wrote Buffy Summers in the This River and goes, God damnit.

[:

[00:43:07] Frank: mailbox or something.

[:

[00:43:20] Gary Murray, party guy.

[:

[00:43:28] Scott: detention, detention, detention, detention,

[:

[00:43:41] And he's just like, P head smashed into the bleachers. Oh yeah. That's

[:

[00:43:51] Frank: Miss America?

[:

[00:44:01] Frank: What did he get in trouble? Did he get in trouble for whacking it in a theater?

[:

[00:44:13] Principal, Moon, Moony, Rooney, Ferris Bueller, Principal. Yeah, Howard the Duck. They both had the same picture. No way on their computer that I got in trouble for. I don't know anything more about it than that. We need bounced back. So maybe by today's standards not

[:

[00:44:31] I wanna know

[:

[00:44:40] Frank: know about it. I mean, I don't want to, I, I'm not laughing at child pornography at all, but what the fuck happened?

[:

[00:44:49] Scott: Cause they, they, I know they served time, but I don't think it was for, it might have been for beaten off in a theater. I remember my dad being like, he was touching himself in a theater and I was like, Can't do that. Well, I

[:

[00:45:05] Scott: kids, That was all Time Square was when we were kids, you know?

[:

[00:45:09] Frank: It was in every single Yeah. I saw a taxi driver when I was a kid. Like I, I learned about it early for sure. But I mean, So did he just get in trouble because I mean, he was peewee. Because he was well known. You know, I don't

[:

[00:45:24] The redheaded guy from Ferris Bueller's day off, and he's the Halloween.

[:

[00:45:33] Scott: Yeah, for sure. Well, we'll see. He was also, But I mean, he was in lots of stuff after that. I'm gonna get up my monocle.

[:

[00:45:42] Frank: What year was Ravens? 97. I. Wow. If I remember that is

[:

[00:46:12] He really delivered that. And uh, what's funny is he's in that fu at for one second and the only thing he says is that he can't bring himself to tell anyone that he's in a movie called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But you gotta give him, he. Gave it his all. He did a good job.

[:

[00:46:30] That was like the preview on hbo. Oh, really? One of the scenes in the preview.

[:

[00:46:39] Frank: they probably got the same reel that HBO used. You know what I mean? They were like, You remember that?

[:

[00:46:45] Scott: one. And then Rutgers Howard's lipstick mustache combo was fucking terrible

[:

[00:47:00] Scott: extra pale, and then the red to make his lips look.

[:

[00:47:04] Frank: But something I swear. In that sequence he didn't have. And I'm like, Okay, what else?

[:

[00:47:19] Frank: Oh yeah. . It took a second, huh? Yeah, it did. Sorry.

[:

[00:47:27] Were so good. .

[:

[00:47:35] Scott: love this when he gets set on fire, when she's like my keen fashion sense, and she sprays that cross. Which by the way, why do you give her that cross if it didn't work?

[:

[00:47:48] Scott: sexually aroused when his head catches on

[:

[00:47:50] Yeah. It's like an herbal Essences commercial for like a male vampire in the early nineties, but, uh, one of the, I think they're all young Republicans. Yeah. Right. As he's dying or right before I haven't finished with you, bitch .

[:

[00:48:08] Frank: Oh man.

[:

[00:48:17] Scott: a little, She didn't seem to be running away. I think when I was a kid I was like, Oh, she's under his spell. But this time I was like, Why everyone just standing around one at a time? Vampire fight scene?

[:

[00:48:30] Frank: at you. That's a good with the one at a time. .

[:

[00:48:48] To possibly that fucking divine song that was in the end credits, you know? Yeah. And

[:

[00:49:01] Scott: Her keen fashion sense did uh, play a key part though, cuz she had that hairspray on her and you needed that in 1992.

[:

[00:49:27] And I thought that was a really subtle way of doing the keen fashion sense callback . I really liked that. Also, Pike would've been electrocuted had he pushed Benny into a box of electricity like that to kill him. Also, that's not how you kill a vampire.

[:

[00:49:45] He got it done. It's like the magic bullets from Iron Eagle.

[:

[00:49:55] Frank: Goofy Ass Music in the training montage. I would never, I never even listened to that song as a kid.

[:

[00:50:02] Scott: there. For sure this, and Heather's has influenced my taste cuz you know me, I love this shit. , I love teenage girl heroin. I think this was girl power in the best way back then. Very tastefully done not, uh, overt. Mm-hmm. other than apparently them being looked, there was a girl on the court.

[:

[00:50:30] Frank: guy. What was funny about that scene was the boyfriend's first response. It was like, What's been up with you? It's like, Or your friend just grabbed her ass

[:

[00:50:43] Frank: f .

[:

[00:50:59] Frank: How did you like the jump off and just let the bike right away?

[:

[00:51:04] Frank: And then at the end they ride off on the bike

[:

[00:51:08] warehouse

[:

[00:51:16] I was looking

[:

[00:51:34] Frank: Yeah. The only thing that I really saw was the float place with the parade Floats said Pasadena something. Yeah. And I was like, That's

[:

[00:51:42] Frank: Senior. Well, you had to start in case you could get the

[:

[00:51:47] We gotta keep her in high school for a little

[:

[00:51:52] Scott: I didn't, nobody did. But actually I thought Buffy got pretty good when she went to college.

[:

[00:52:00] Charmed and Dawson's. That was my only wb, Not

[:

[00:52:25] I broke the world. I have a surprise for you. Next time, Frank, what's that? Next time we're gonna watch. Jurassic Park Dominion, , because I already watched it this week. Oh God. And I want to talk about it with you, and I know you've been looking forward to rewatching it. I wanna talk about this movie, . There were a lot of things I noticed and, uh, I didn't write 'em down, so I'm gonna watch it again.

[:

[00:53:12] Is

[:

[00:53:14] Scott: Kingdom? Yeah. Uh,

[:

[00:53:20] Scott: I liked watching a movie on Blueray on my PlayStation. If you swipe on the touch pad back and forth, Uhhuh Forward 15, backward 15. Which was good for this movie.

[:

[00:53:30] Frank: have one. If not both of the newer ones on Blueray.
