Deep Blue Sea

[:

[00:00:09] Frank: Hollywood and the independent

video

[:

[00:00:22] Scott: Does this hold up? And just, what the hell is a good movie? Anyway, I'm Frank Ro. I'm Scott Moran and we are the last video store

[:

[00:00:36] Frank: I thought it was really cool. They threw out Bud Lights at the Offspring Show. We caught one. Yeah, we were 13. Beat that shit.

[:

[00:00:44] Frank: big ass. I took

[:

[00:00:51] Frank: girl. Yeah, I don't know. I was gonna ask if you wanted to go on the Creed cruise.

[:

[00:00:58] Scott: getting stuck on that shit in the ocean. I nostalgia about Creed. Well, I don't know if I've ever talked to you about You wanna go see Puddle of Mud, bro.

[:

[00:01:20] Frank: Or when Covid hit, how they got quarantined off the coasts? I was just like, no. Like I don't want to do a cruise ship. So imagine getting stuck on a cruise ship with Creed. Like

[:

[00:01:45] Frank: Well, and they don't let you smoke at all, right? Like I don't think you can smoke. Probably more vape. Probably not weed,

[:

[00:01:51] Frank: nicotine, I think they're really weird about nicotine as well. So what, probably the lozenges, is that your only option? Is that allowed?

[:

[00:02:01] Frank: Scientologist.

[:

[00:02:17] Scott: it turn into a triangle of sadness kind of thing. We're running, creed is running the show.

[:

[00:02:22] Frank: rations. God damn, I'm just playing. That would never happen. Come to Jesus,

[:

[00:02:34] Frank: These are the shackles. Those are some like, The CD covers and like what? Back in the day when there were posters. There were posters and those flippy things, you'd flip through and look at the posters.

[:

[00:02:44] Scott: when David Cross was real mean to him on celebrity Poker? No. Then he like beat him. No, that's fucking

[:

[00:02:56] Scott: should

[:

[00:03:00] Scott: are you pretty sure you forgot? Oh, no, I did watch some that you watched something things.

[:

[00:03:09] Frank: Cool. You know I did

[:

[00:03:19] Frank: Did you watch the extended or the original theatrical

[:

[00:03:22] Scott: I watched whatever one is on Hulu right now. Was

[:

[00:03:41] Frank: I never watched that. Then I saw it once and then once I had it on D V D I had that. But yeah, there's a whole part where it's the guns and it shows the ammo count, but they're basically like auto centuries, you know, they're just aiming down a tunnel. Yeah. Um, that's part, if that was in there, it's the extended.

[:

[00:04:09] Frank: The extended cut. There's a scene where Ripley goes to like a hologram room and sees her daughter, or like a message from her.

[:

[00:04:17] Scott: That was not in this cut. Okay.

[:

[00:04:20] Scott: extended as well. I forgot how much I liked Newt though. Newt N is. The way she talks. Newt makes some questionable decisions for a girl that has survived this long.

[:

[00:04:33] Frank: he's umm, almost British. Oh, almost was. No, no. Definitely when she's like running ahead right there at the end.

[:

[00:04:48] Frank: and she got them the escape route that. One time? No, no. Through here. Oh, that was right towards the end actually.

[:

[00:04:54] Scott: It's still immensely enjoyable. It's the reason I just never trusted Paul Riser on Matt about you. Like you were like, you know, fuck over Helen Hunt and I mean, she's supposed to be with Bill Paxton in the red truck. In the red truck. Yes, in the red truck. Remember when you were a kid in all movies were one movie.

[:

[00:05:18] Frank: about seeing Highlander at a young age that was like, what the fuck? Yeah.

[:

[00:05:33] Scott: That's all I have to say.

[:

[00:05:39] Scott: I also watched Interstellar, which I think I never enjoyed Interstellar so much as this watch. I. I

[:

[00:05:48] Scott: gets a little better every time. I think I was like, that was really long the first time.

[:

[00:05:58] Scott: more emotionally wrecked by the father daughter relationship. Every fucking time I watch that movie, it's

really

[:

[00:06:09] Frank: Extended cut. There is a, yeah,

[:

[00:06:17] Frank: it was so deep and they didn't know, like he didn't know that he was like so many years. They didn't know they were gonna be on that. Planet that's caught in the thing.

[:

[00:06:32] Frank: me. No, I mean, imagine you're just hiking and you're like, oh, let's go down this trail. Then, you know, the trail less traveled. That's when you find the, you know, the beach or, or wherever it may be.

[:

[00:06:46] Frank: Well, Scotty doesn't know. Oh yeah. Was he really a bad guy? I don't know. Fiona seemed kind of loose church

[:

[00:07:03] Scott: Almost. Did you like it? Yes. It's ridiculous. Is it ridiculous? It's fucking ridiculous,

[:

[00:07:18] Frank: Did you watch

[:

[00:07:28] Frank: I watched more than usual. I did watch things on my days off. I didn't like get sucked into a TikTok hole or do yard work like I should have done a little bit here and there.

[:

[00:07:44] Scott: I wanted to watch that. Oh, I thought you'd seen it. No, I meant to watch it actually this weekend, and then I watched Interstellar, which is like three fucking hours long. It was

[:

[00:07:59] Frank: I. 1:00 PM on Saturday. You know what I mean? Uh, it was a good little afternoon movie that hit the spot and there's just some really funny references. The comedy's good. It's good, it's there. And the story's like, yeah, you know what kind of movie you're getting into, and it's over the top. Ridiculous. It's got some people in there.

[:

[00:08:33] Scott: shit.

[:

[00:08:35] Frank: I've ever heard. It was, but it was just, it was so well placed in the movie. You'll see. Check it out, man. It was on hold and I was like, just do it. I started the documentary, we talked about the missing. Uh, we watched that as well. Lucy Blackman? Yes, dude. I've got like 20,

[:

[00:08:49] Scott: It's nice. It's just a documentary. Yeah, it's just a regular

[:

[00:08:57] Scott: good Lord. Make more of those. Yeah, just boom. Remember when we just made

[:

[00:09:04] Frank: I wanna know what the

[:

[00:09:07] Frank: then I, there was one that I had on my list on Netflix, soft and quiet from Bloom House. I was a big Bloom house guy, but then a 24 stuff lately has just been blowing me away. Or the gravitas. Those are great. But this Bloom House movie, soft and quiet.

[:

[00:09:31] Scott: one with the women? They invite the, the

[:

[00:09:38] Scott: I've hovered over it

[:

[00:09:42] Frank: This happens in the first five, 10 minutes, whatever genre, they classified it as horror, whatever. I think they're meeting at a church that goes there. She's, she had s shown this little kid, this pie, she pulls back the cover on the pie and there's a swastika in it. I was like, what the

[:

[00:09:56] Scott: Yes. And I'm, I had heard that's kind of what

[:

[00:10:10] Frank: Yeah, I'm the one who set it up. Huh? They go upstairs to this little pretty room in this church. Oh yeah, yeah. Here we go. Oh, there it is. And I was like, what the fuck am I getting into? So keep in mind, this is a Bloom House movie and this is like a group of like, Just women from this small community and

[:

[00:10:29] Frank: Yes. But then it is like, fucking bam, dude. I mean, fucking

[:

[00:10:37] Frank: And it's one steady shot, the whole movie. Oh fuck. It was crazy. Let's, I just, I don't wanna give away too much. It freaked me the fuck out. 'cause I had no idea that shit was coming. But then just, uh, it doesn't drop, the intensity doesn't drop.

[:

[00:11:11] Scott: fast like the movie does or just.

[:

[00:11:14] Frank: characters in it. The characters of, and the plot, like the speed of it is just all I'm excited. But uh, yeah, soft and quiet and it's just such a fucking crazy title for the movie anyway, but Bloom House. But that's the thing, you know, it's, it's controversial for sure.

[:

[00:11:31] Scott: Yeah. They like, I've, I've had some duds.

[:

[00:11:40] Scott: 24 used to not just be horror movies. Well, no. And that they're not, and I guess they're not, Bo is afraid not necessarily a horror movie.

[:

[00:11:50] Scott: movies? Yeah, for sure. It's like, uh, it's what Lionsgate was when it was great. But no, not, I love and they're putting out Cohen movies and stuff. Yeah, like back in the. Big Lebowski Day Dimension was a big thing. It's like that level of

[:

[00:12:06] Scott: Yeah, the like art house movies that were going out to big

[:

[00:12:14] Scott: or zoning out. It's always good when you do something instead of zoning out. Yeah. No,

[:

[00:12:28] Scott: Yeah, I think those are signs. I'm depressed sometimes, you know? Mm-hmm. I just stared for 40 minutes. What the fuck happened?

[:

[00:12:48] Scott: you're not gonna do it.

[:

[00:13:02] Frank: that's the thing. I'm notorious for like a three hour nap outta nowhere.

[:

[00:13:07] Scott: feel good. It doesn't make me feel good afterwards. It just makes me feel tranquilized. And then I stumble towards bedtime. But it's never like a, I'm gonna take a nap and then I'm gonna get up and I'm gonna be refreshed. When I was in my twenties, I could do that. Mm-hmm.

[:

[00:13:26] Frank: party. See, I think I was accustomed to the nightlife, you know, even if I wasn't going out, I would stay up and watch movies or play video games late. You know, it's not like I would do that during the daytime. When you're going to work, it's like two or three in the afternoon, so you get off between 10 and midnight.

[:

[00:13:58] Scott: dead. I've actually, I've been doing it lately and I've been enjoying it. I haven't done it in a long time and I've never done it for no

[:

[00:14:05] Frank: That's why I'm fucking popping that vitamin D dude. You get older, you start fucking got that good vitamin D I got that Nature's made bitch.

[:

[00:14:23] Frank: have to dive into whether or not Hulu was worth it.

[:

[00:14:35] Frank: summer. Yeah. Even if you're not out doing something, you're doing something else.

[:

[00:14:44] Scott: No, but I

[:

[00:14:48] Scott: right now. No, we're now in the future, we're gonna be about three to four weeks away from Shark Week. That's right.

[:

[00:14:55] Scott: back. Shark Week was the reason this was on H B O is 'cause, you know, discovery Channel has all their stuff.

[:

[00:15:15] Frank: watch it for a while, but the last, I probably watched it every, let's say three to five.

[:

[00:15:20] Scott: this is your avenue. I would say. This is the kind of movie you like. Generally

[:

[00:15:28] Scott: time. Know you may feel different about some of these movies now over how you did before, but. This is your kind of movie like Jurassic Park Independence Day. You're a Michael Kreton kind of guy when you get old, you know how like my dad reads spy novels?

[:

[00:16:11] Scott: So

[:

[00:16:16] Scott: timeline. Yeah, that one's terrible.

[:

[00:16:23] Scott: But it's like sphere, like who's seen sphere as many times as you? I've seen sphere a lot, A lot

[:

[00:16:31] Scott: Yeah, this is 96, 97. This is your real expertise is the blowout summer blockbuster disaster movie. Did you

[:

[00:16:46] Scott: et. Yeah. Sorry. Sam Jackson was also in Sphere. Yeah, he was, Andy was in this and the. Prop submarine in This is the submarine from Sphere.

[:

[00:17:02] Frank: cherry book. So here's the deal. Deep Blue Sea came after Sphere. Yes. I can almost promise that.

[:

[00:17:16] Scott: The breath in Fight Club. Mm-hmm. When he has the Penguin dreams. Yeah. That's from Titanic. No, it's from the end of Titanic. Wow. It's a leftover breath. That's awesome. From Titanic. That's awesome.

[:

[00:17:31] Frank: Was

[:

[00:17:35] Frank: I don't think so. I don't think that was one. They were like low budget movies that I've seen those pop.

[:

[00:17:45] Frank: Barry Pepper's performance in Battlefield Earth was off the charts before he could speak English and he just had to grunt.

[:

[00:18:14] Frank: That shit just stays in my cues. It stays in my cues. You

[:

[00:18:24] Frank: Predator is on max right now. It's always somewhere and I find it.

[:

[00:18:33] Frank: Yeah.

[:

[00:18:36] Scott: In the middle of watching it, I was like, I saw this movie in the theater when I was like, I fucking saw this movie with Frank.

[:

[00:18:50] Scott: theater.

[:

[00:18:53] Frank: experience. This was great. That was an amazing day. We were fucking nuts at 15. We were fucking nuts.

[:

[00:19:03] Frank: Yeah. I mean there was a good chance I probably could have died on that day somehow. You know what I mean?

[:

[00:19:12] Scott: Mall and it was a really good time. And I think I enjoyed this movie every other time I watched it. Mm-hmm. But, That was just in high school.

[:

[00:19:26] Frank: And this wasn't like Alamo, we weren't supposed to have drinks or bring in drinks, but we knew the guys at the, at the, at the little, at the front. Yeah. That was great

[:

[00:19:38] Frank: That's crazy. So, and then I watched it on my birthday yesterday. Oh, whoa.

[:

[00:19:46] Frank: Yeah, man, I thought about that.

[:

[00:20:05] Frank: Over and over and over again.

[:

[00:20:12] Frank: movie every couple of years as

[:

[00:20:32] Scott: are conducting research. You.

[:

[00:20:50] Frank: aren't you concerned about the security of your shits? Sorry. Love that. We're gonna have to fucking do that movie sometime.

[:

[00:21:08] Scott: a young chef named Preacher and his only friend, a Parrott, apparently named Bird, are making a cake for Dr. McAllister's birthday cake, looked slam. There are things that happened before and after this, but I think Preacher is the closest thing to a main character. This fucking movie has. It's because he has faith, and I have some trivia on that.

[:

[00:21:45] Frank: Did they just alter existing

[:

[00:21:54] Scott: Yeah. Maybe they bred, you know, the really big one.

[:

[00:22:04] Scott: It's lucky that it's the weekend, so the base isn't fully staffed, but when the base starts to flood, preacher. Clearly an evil scientist, Susan corporate bigwig and survivor of previous completely unrelated disaster. Russell Franklin and Shark Wrangler, Carter, Blake have to get to the surface, I guess, before one of them gets out of the confines of the base.

[:

[00:22:41] Frank: Oh, let me go to my notes on that one, Chuck. Hold

[:

[00:22:45] Frank: fences. No, man. No. Okay. Here's the deal.

[:

[00:22:58] Scott: like, aren't they on a switch? Could they have been raised the whole fucking time? Why does he know? And why is it within a centimeter, within

[:

[00:23:06] Frank: Eight feet, give or take a centimeter. What the fuck does that mean? What does that mean? When he asks how high? Eight, eight feet give or take a centimeter. The cable guy's gonna show up between eight and five. Same

[:

[00:23:17] Frank: not a part of feet. It's Michael Rappaport, man. Did you ever see Copland?

[:

[00:23:25] Scott: What was the movie where he thought he was a superhero?

[:

[00:23:33] Frank: He has on like

[:

[00:23:38] Frank: once and so funny, dude, I think I rented that from the video store, watched it once and then forgot about it. I know what you're talking about. Oh, that was sad.

[:

[00:23:47] Frank: movie. That was sad, wasn't it? I think I forgot about it on purpose, but that

[:

[00:23:53] Frank: guy. Yeah. Sorry dude. No, he's an awesome dude too. I love him. He's very outspoken on current issues and he's, he's a motherfucker. You know what I mean?

[:

[00:24:05] Frank: There was one scene where they were swimming and I was like, wait, this, that double is. And then I was like, oh, wait, no, that is him. Because then I looked closer and I was like, wait, that's him. It's just the dark hair with his face squished

[:

[00:24:20] Scott: I've got a brown goatee.

[:

[00:24:26] Scott: I imagine you'll explain most of the movie to me. Somehow I have a lot of questions, or maybe you won't this time. It's sharks. It's got a story sort of.

[:

[00:24:48] Scott: time.

[:

[00:24:50] Frank: three, two to three. Okay. That's good. That's a good long one, two to three. This whole time it was good. Deep Blue Sea was born from a nightmare had by Australian screenwriter Duncan Kennedy, after allegedly witnessing a shark attack in the dream, he was trapped in a passageway with sharks that could read his mind.

[:

[00:25:11] Scott: just two other screenwriting credits. The 1998 draft of the script credits, the following writers, Duncan Kennedy, John Ziman, Simon Berry, Michael Frost, Beckner. CM Talkington, is that a Mob J Up

[:

[00:25:27] Frank: Cmm. Cmm. Talkington reporting for their team.

[:

[00:25:39] Frank: three that ended up on it were part of the original 12.

[:

[00:25:47] Frank: nightmare. I like how you always find that on these where we're. A little weird and you're like, well, seven people had hands on that this is the most, is it?

[:

[00:25:59] Scott: Nine. Nine, nine. Nine people wrote this movie. Were they all at the same table? No. Maybe the last three, but I don't fucking think so. Did they like

[:

[00:26:14] Scott: from there?

[:

[00:26:21] Frank: him. Lemme ask you, as expensive as it would be to buy a World War II sub pen and retrofit it for this experiment, can they have just built a really cool facility on land? I have more questions.

[:

[00:26:53] Scott: And if that didn't kill

[:

[00:26:57] Scott: Deep Blue Sea, he fucking tackled it to the ground though. Like I said, there were things,

[:

[00:27:11] Frank: I still love it. Like I said, special place right there in the old ticker. Yeah. Good shit. Mm-hmm. It's a nice tingle. Uh, the movie star is LL Cool j Sherman. Preacher Dudley,

[:

[00:27:27] Frank: Um, Thomas Janis Carter. Blake Saffron Buroughs is Dr. Susan McAllister.

[:

[00:27:41] Scott: Guard scars. Guard the daddy, scars, guard scars, scar, scar, guard, scars, guard. Not quite perfecting that. American accent yet.

[:

[00:27:53] Frank: Um, ADA Tero is Brenda Kerns and Samuel L. Jackson is Russell Franklin. Everything that man touches turns to gold. Even 1 8 7. Have you seen 1 8 7? No, exactly. Um, deep Blue Sea was a box off of success in the summer of 1999. We

[:

[00:28:24] Scott: The Mummy Runaway Bride, Blair Witch Project, noting Hill Wild, wild West, the general's daughter, American Pie Inspector Gadget, the Haunting Deep Blue Sea. Entrapment, the Thomas Crown Affair. Bow finger, eyes wide shut, south Park, bigger, longer. Uncut. Lake Placid, Mickey Blue Eyes Mystery Men. The 13th Warrior, summer of Sam, the Iron Giant.

[:

[00:28:58] Frank: like I'm saying, 1999 was such a fucking badass

[:

[00:29:07] Scott: No. I mean it's,

[:

[00:29:10] Scott: about. This is a huge theater year and there's no way we saw all of those in the

[:

[00:29:23] Scott: on the water.

[:

[00:29:39] Frank: times. So that song, when they're partying on the boat was good and Plenty by Divine.

[:

[00:29:45] Scott: fuck was, what is that? Some T L C Ripoff Bullshit. Yeah.

[:

[00:30:01] Scott: music, so he was like, Go in and getting that shark like it was a loose horse.

[:

[00:30:11] Frank: hills. Well, nobody hears like this sport yacht pull up, you know what I mean? Like, he's not on like a, they're in the ocean. Yeah.

[:

[00:30:22] Frank: chilling. You probably know how a boat works.

[:

[00:30:34] Scott: Unless Rappaport was driving and they just didn't show him. I mean,

[:

[00:30:42] Scott: you could easily drive yourself nuts.

[:

[00:30:57] Frank: It's not even like rich old white guy. He

[:

[00:31:09] Scott: Like, what the fuck is going on? Why is he

[:

[00:31:17] Scott: Did they cast him, has Samuel Hole Jackson's character, and then later they were like, we got Samuel Jackson. We gave it to Samuel Hole Jackson. He's gonna be you.

[:

[00:31:31] Frank: he was probably coming off of something like the negotiator,

[:

[00:31:48] Scott: Oh, yeah. Gina Davis and him were married.

[:

[00:31:52] Scott: Was was, okay. Yes. They were married. Cutthroat Island Long Kiss, goodnight era.

[:

[00:32:01] Scott: team, wasn't she in a baseball team too?

[:

[00:32:08] Scott: The license plate that's in the Shark's teeth, Louisiana, the of the movie Louisiana. It's the same license plate from Jaws.

[:

[00:32:16] Scott: way. Yeah. Cool. So this movie is a Thousand Jaws references.

[:

[00:32:21] Scott: bigger boat, eh? They didn't. But shark number one dies like Jaws one, shark number two dies.

[:

[00:32:40] Frank: Well, I mean, this was probably the best shark movie since Jaws. I think I can come out and say

[:

[00:32:52] Scott: After the jaws. Yeah. But no one's like, I'm gonna make a dinosaur movie. I'm gonna make a fucking dinosaur movie. Like

[:

[00:33:00] Scott: but 65, like we were just talking about how nobody made fucking dinosaur movies. Yeah, I'm sure this was the same kind of thing where he was like, I'm make a fucking Shark movie.

[:

[00:33:13] Scott: to be honest. Me neither. There are now since 2018. Little late. A deep blue C two. What? That has the guy who played John and John dies at the end. Is it? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Rob Mayer. Yeah. The fuck outta here? I watched the trailer.

[:

[00:33:38] Frank: Is there anybody else in there you might recog I might recognize?

[:

[00:33:52] Scott: Oh,

[:

[00:34:06] Frank: He's such a shark cowboy. Rough around the

[:

[00:34:23] Frank: He's got a pet man. Not his mother, just his old man.

[:

[00:34:26] Scott: man sit at by a desk white man.

[:

[00:34:34] Scott: you think water is fucking dangerous? Ice. You think it mo You think water moves fast?

[:

[00:34:42] Scott: how does fucking no man, not at all's

[:

[00:34:46] Frank: Did he not see the Titanic?

[:

[00:34:52] Frank: Samuel Jackson did Good though. Like always, you know, I'm not

[:

[00:35:08] Scott: Dylan Scars, guards, and Thor, Sam Jackson's, Nick Fury. Mm-hmm. Tom Jane's a Punisher. He was like the first Punisher, Dr. Susan. She was in, uh, agents of Shield.

[:

[00:35:28] Scott: No blonde doctor did, or maybe doctor,

[:

[00:35:35] Scott: the squeeze of scars, guard, kind of scar guard, squeeze, uh, there are only so many faces. And for no uhhuh for, uh, Rebecca Ferguson. Who's that Silo? Mama Dune In Dune, uh, Jessica. Okay. She's in all the Mission Impossible movies. Yes. A little bit.

[:

[00:35:55] Scott: bit. She's got a little bit. I mean, Rebecca Ferguson would've been 15 probably at the time.

[:

[00:36:10] Scott: This was a time of, uh, very educated young people in movies if they weren't a hacker.

[:

[00:36:25] Frank: Well, I was completely wrong. I thought she was one of those chicks who had been like, Mel Gibson's, chicken Braveheart, or fucking. You know, I could

[:

[00:36:34] Frank: Kevin Costner's chick in uh, postman.

[:

[00:36:44] Scott: Commander. Like she was one of those people who wasn't Andy McDowell in the nineties. Andy McDowell in this movie, she's completely fucking unlikable.

[:

[00:36:58] Scott: the bad guy in this movie. She's

[:

[00:37:12] Scott: I was like, I thought she was the main character. As I was watching the movie this time, I was like, wait, she survives with LL Cool J, right? Like, I couldn't remember.

[:

[00:37:30] Scott: bait. Well, it was almost like rather than having her learn something mm-hmm.

[:

[00:37:52] Frank: Yeah. I've never felt this strongly against her before, but I've, that's where I should have been the whole time.

[:

[00:37:57] Scott: was also re-edited to take out any time you might start to care about her. Mm. So she was, Tom Jane's love interest at the birthday party when they're flirting and then it turns into a conversation mm-hmm. Where he's like, you're gonna do this fucking test early. He brought the suit here.

[:

[00:38:14] Frank: little smooch smooch they cut out or something? Yes.

[:

[00:38:31] Frank: feisty. It's a feisty back and forth man.

[:

[00:38:34] Scott: and cute. Did you notice that twice? During the Twice I saw Anyway, during underwater scenes, saffron burrows, she gives the I'm outta air signal. No way. Yeah. I saw her do it twice. Ah, I don't know how many more times other people were doing that, but I bet if I looked really closely and it see it, it was all up in, it was she was doing this like underwater, like

[:

[00:38:59] Scott: Was it playing possum the whole time?

[:

[00:39:03] Scott: gonna do it. Let them stab it in the brain. Before it decided to bite this man's arm off for smoking. Weird. I think it was committed. No smoking in here, motherfucker.

[:

[00:39:16] Frank: She gave him the eyes. Why did he lick

[:

[00:39:23] Frank: not when you're a scars guard. And of course when he is rolling around, you're like, oh God, that shirt looks weird. What I'd never noticed before also was when he is laying on his back and it does that aboveground shot, the hiding of the arm is so bad.

[:

[00:39:55] Frank: But it's really just his hand over his dick. 'cause that's where the arm went. It never stuck out to me like that before. But it's awful. It hurt me. I didn't

[:

[00:40:18] Scott: You gotta make it a pill.

[:

[00:40:27] Scott: I thought that was just a really bad fake shark. She was really doing something to a dead shark.

[:

[00:40:36] Frank: Well, 'cause it sneaks up on her later in the movie.

[:

[00:40:45] Frank: It's like when you go to like a medical office, like they really do have the little like models of things, like a heart with all the valves that comes apart or something like that.

[:

[00:40:56] Scott: the kidneys, the ovaries. Never stay in those. And then I'm so

[:

[00:41:11] Frank: Like, does the needle have movement in that model? Can you fuck it up because they've got the cool visual on the screen while she's doing the procedure. That was like some shit. Like what?

[:

[00:41:26] Frank: fucking coordinates in a star system somewhere?

[:

[00:41:29] Scott: those exposed heating coils in the shark's

[:

[00:41:42] Scott: And poor ello, cool j's like trapped downstairs with his fucking parrot,

[:

[00:41:48] Frank: Got it. The bird got killed too. I didn't remember that. I thought the bird made

[:

[00:41:55] Frank: it's his asshole parrot friend. That's why they have such a good real, that's why he feeds it like the icing off his finger. Why is he

[:

[00:42:05] Frank: clever's.

[:

[00:42:29] Scott: event.

[:

[00:42:42] Frank: to him. This is just what I hear. Well,

[:

[00:42:46] Frank: didn't remember the bird dying.

[:

[00:43:07] Scott: Would've been the fucking same.

[:

[00:43:18] Scott: Well, this is Thomas Jane's first big vehicle. Was it? There wasn't, well, I mean, he was in Thursday with Aaron Eckhart before that, but this is the first time like they were like, this guy's gonna be a fucking action star.

[:

[00:43:31] Frank: Thursday without knowing what Thursday was. I might have to go back and watch that. Really? I don't think

[:

[00:43:42] Frank: Aaron Eckhart was in that movie, Towelhead. Did you ever see that? Yeah. Sexual assault of a minor fucking Aaron Eckhart.

[:

[00:43:50] Frank: Fucker. No, it just, that movie was so, dude, that movie that was one of my Hollywood movies was that, and I, I was like, you know, a little conservative town. Anyway. It was not Aaron Eckhart, it was Thomas

[:

[00:44:09] Frank: it was well and then underwater.

[:

[00:44:30] Scott: what was her name?

[:

[00:44:37] Frank: Well, the explosion. Well, yeah, and then she's got the blowback. Okay. She blew back with shattering

[:

[00:44:51] Frank: flame thrower, aim down at the water at the

[:

[00:44:56] Scott: It was just Brenda and

[:

[00:45:01] Scott: Cool J. They're the only two people who may it, I mean.

[:

[00:45:16] Frank: This was his ticket out, you know, his, uh, clean slate per se. I. Did you pick up

[:

[00:45:27] Frank: is such a comfort movie for me, like last night I really watched it 'cause I knew we were gonna talk about it, but I feel like those last few times I've watched it over the years has been like a go to sleep movie or background movie while I'm looking at something online.

[:

[00:45:43] Scott: That's kinda what's fun about watching these ones from way back. Yeah. Is very seldom do you watch this kind of movie with the sort of intensity that we end up watching these movies for. Because I was really

[:

[00:45:54] Frank: And I, there was a lot of, all the times I've seen this, I was picking up on things for the first time and I, you know, I felt a little bad. 'cause I do consider this one that I've seen a lot.

[:

[00:46:07] Frank: Always, always, always. Even, even, uh, event Horizon, somehow us watching it to talk about it, I, you felt a little bad.

[:

[00:46:33] Scott: it up. Did you know that you could make an explosion that big with just a few flares, two sticks of dynamite worth, dynamite's?

[:

[00:46:44] Frank: strip down for the shark

[:

[00:46:50] Frank: I mean, she is a scientist at 27, like a, a distinguished scientist with some skills at 27. Was

[:

[00:47:04] Scott: Not

[:

[00:47:13] Scott: From the last time and didn't really help them. The only thing that really helped them was that Thomas Jane knew how to grab the front of the shark and grab onto its fin,

[:

[00:47:22] Scott: he wrangled.

[:

[00:47:26] Frank: the license plate out. I feel like they were trying to tell us that was a tiger shark by the markings on it. 'cause tiger sharks can be aggressive too. Yeah, for sure.

[:

[00:47:37] Scott: Why did she

[:

[00:47:42] Scott: fucking bad guy. She wanted her fucking zip drive discs. We, well, because that was the thing. Zip drives didn't hang around very long, did they?

[:

[00:47:53] Frank: I felt, kind of felt like they were. But everybody was just like not talking about it. Like, oh, they need another friend. Well,

[:

[00:48:03] Frank: but she was like, nah, like very dismissive.

[:

[00:48:11] Frank: fix this.

[:

[00:48:16] Scott: but I mean, her mom's dead already obviously. Right? So her motivations are getting sort of gray area. Little unhinged. It's not that she wanted to stop it from happening to anyone else.

[:

[00:48:27] Scott: rules, man, in her grief.

[:

[00:48:42] Frank: and like just fucking build a facility

[:

[00:48:48] Frank: know, in the mag.

[:

[00:49:13] Frank: But still World War ii. How much does titanium fence

[:

[00:49:24] Frank: genetically enhanced sharks, their behavior. Shark fin pills make my knees less swollen. Yeah, dude, scars guard is popping it to make his de grow bigger for old squeeze over there, and that's why he's smoking the way he does and pissing into the wind.

[:

[00:49:42] Scott: You'll see.

[:

[00:49:47] Scott: there was like probably more indicators that there were a couple earlier in the movie that they cut out of the movie. Yeah. Well,

[:

[00:49:56] Scott: law also? Did you get the vibe that he was fucking drunk all the time?

[:

[00:50:03] Frank: into the wind. Yeah, I mean, he seemed like that guy, but he was

[:

[00:50:10] Frank: like you. I could definitely see him as a functioning alcoholic. You know,

[:

[00:50:19] Scott: This was the weirdest. Thing to rewatch. I think for

[:

[00:50:36] Scott: tank and then the shark uses like, breaks the window with him.

[:

[00:50:45] Scott: mind, mind blowing thing is that scene where that. Thing breaks. Yeah. And they're all running uhhuh. They accidentally dumped three tons of water on all those actors and almost fucking killed everyone because of the force.

[:

[00:51:09] Frank: harmed everyone 'cause they just shot across the stage. Yeah. Well, you know, directors with water, you know I told you that shit about the abyss I saw.

[:

[00:51:19] Scott: the amount of like,

[:

[00:51:29] Scott: Yeah, but it needed to be so crisp so they could film in it.

[:

[00:51:32] Frank: like I think, did he fucking hit him or he threatened it? There was some shit that went down between Ed Harris and fucking James Cameron man over the abyss.

[:

[00:51:44] Frank: Well, and what Abyss was like technically filmed, late eighties.

[:

[00:51:50] Frank: Yeah. I saw milk money.

[:

[00:51:59] Frank: and next time we're watching Milk Money. No. Um, no, this was good. I'll watch it again. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna like really fucking focus on it, but I'm gonna watch this again forever. Yeah. I will forever watch Deep Blue

[:

[00:52:16] Scott: Start to jump out at you when you watch it this closely. Well, the last line of this movie is, Take me back to the ghetto. What if the Sharks had started talking towards the end of the movie? Mm-hmm. That would've like they're, they're getting that smart wait. Like he was trying to get outta that hole and it turns around and it's like, fuck off

[:

[00:52:35] Frank: Like a planet of the like, fucking Caesar. No, the shark is like no. Planted of the sharks. Yeah. Thomas Jane and Ello Cool j Wright. And then like it pans out. No, it's just like sharp nose outta the water. No.

[:

[00:53:04] Scott: No, it would've been a better movie.
