[:

[00:00:09] Frank Roll: Hollywood and the independent video

[:

[00:00:18] Scott Moran: Receive streaming services and ask the question, what the fuck is that? Does this hold up? And just, what the hell is a good movie? Anyway, I'm Frank Rome. I'm Scott Moran, and we are the last video

[:

[00:00:35] Scott Moran: So you watched the last bus finally.

[:

[00:00:53] Scott Moran: You're getting all of it and if you're me who's played it tons of times? Uhhuh. . It's just so much more. Okay. The story is expanded but not with like it. Take anything away from what it is. It only makes it more interesting. Yeah. If you hadn't been stuck inside Joel in the game, you might have gotten some of that video games are not third person, unless they're like until

[:

[00:01:16] Frank Roll: No. I mean, it just seems like a great opportunity to expand on storyline, create new things, create arguments about whether or not, you know, bill was gay.

[:

[00:01:31] Frank Roll: there. It's. , as soon as you said something, what did you text me? Like, Nick Fermans should win a fucking Emmy, or you were, I bet he

[:

[00:01:40] Scott Moran: So I'm like, he deserves an Emmy. So I'm

[:

[00:01:47] Scott Moran: and son was like, I gotta push you over the fucking edge. Yeah. So both me and Kelly's parents are watching this show.

[:

[00:02:00] Frank Roll: Nick Offerman, ugh. Well, everybody, but he was great and. As soon as it was over, one of the first things I'm like, what are the fucking conservatives gonna say about this? Or like, this is gonna show, don't show. I know, but I wanted

[:

[00:02:18] Scott Moran: Well, I love people. Were so mad about the second game, just the story. Like cuz they got not the game. the fucking story. Cuz like when a story wrecks you uhhuh people, you're gonna lose some fucking people. People are gonna get really upset. That was like, uh, I forget what, oh, we were talking about euphoria.

[:

[00:02:54] Frank Roll: often.

[:

[00:03:05] Scott Moran: It's like, well, what's really crazy is, uh, , I've been looking at ads for mushroom coffee.

[:

[00:03:32] Scott Moran: Well, yeah,

[:

[00:03:37] Scott Moran: It's disgusting. Don't drink it. Just drink coffee. Well, and

[:

[00:03:46] Frank Roll: From cnn, I should say, changing the Way where Yeah, people are like, oh shit. And then the scientists are like, well, fuck yeah. I mean, over the course of time. But it's like, it's crazy how it tied into like a real life scenario, you know, every year. What did that article say already this year? It.

[:

[00:04:05] Scott Moran: The more it's gonna evolve to live inside you. Yes. It's It's a real fucking thing. .

[:

[00:04:15] Scott Moran: I like science fiction concepts, being exposed to the mainstream public and then watching people freak out in a way where I'm like, I had that thought when I was, is this really gonna happen?

[:

[00:04:27] Frank Roll: up on the protein bars and bottled

[:

[00:04:37] Frank Roll: I mean, fucking pancakes are delicious

[:

[00:04:42] Frank Roll: gotten you too most likely, right?

[:

[00:04:45] Scott Moran: definitely. Yeah. Starchy shoving those biscuits in that old lady's face. . I watched a ton of stuff cuz it's been two weeks. Yeah, it's

[:

[00:04:58] Scott Moran: I trimmed it down a lot. ? Well, what, I had a rough week, so I watched a lot of stuff. We need not mention all the comfort things that I, it would make the list.

[:

[00:05:27] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. . It's Colombo. It's great though. Tons. Tons of guest stars. Really? So many. I don't

[:

[00:05:36] Scott Moran: good to know to I love it. It's fantastic. Uh, it's nice to watch every week cuz it's episodic. Mm-hmm. that's missing from TV sometimes. I don't want that all the time, but I also don't want ongoing story all the time.

[:

[00:06:15] Scott Moran: And uh, I think Harrison Ford is his boss. In any case, he's the father figure.

[:

[00:06:26] Scott Moran: think I did. Yeah, you told everyone, everyone listening is like, yeah, we know. Well,

[:

[00:06:33] Frank Roll: And I did. . But then, yeah, I didn't cancel it, so I paid for it for the first time and I still haven't watched

[:

[00:06:44] Frank Roll: one called? Shrinking. Shrinking. Shrinking is great.

[:

[00:06:50] Scott Moran: Don't Harrison Ford. Is Harrison Ford in this show too. Uh, uh, hunter Season two started Al Pacino's Nazi Killing Show. Uhhuh started that last night. Only an episode in, uh, I'll definitely finish it. So

[:

[00:07:10] Scott Moran: season, like you I watched season one when it came on.

[:

[00:07:20] Frank Roll: episodes. Cool. That's me.

[:

[00:07:29] Frank Roll: watching. Well, and that one's Amazon, right? Yes. Ever since they changed the format.

[:

[00:07:34] Scott Moran: Yeah. What the fuck are you doing? Why are the channels at the forefront? Stop trying to sell me shit and gimme what I already paid for. It

[:

[00:07:51] Scott Moran: know, um, don't make me hunt for what's fucking free because now, or not free.

I

[:

[00:07:59] Scott Moran: banner? Yeah. They're changing Prime. That's like a, you know how Netflix to exit the app, you have to go like in an L shape to get to

[:

[00:08:08] Scott Moran: This is on the tv. What do you mean to cause Netflix to exit out of Netflix?

[:

[00:08:17] Frank Roll: you living in where you don't just

[:

[00:08:26] Frank Roll: I I had to ask why, cuz I was like,

[:

[00:08:29] Scott Moran: They're not good , none of them work, right? I have two from two completely different manufacturers. One is fucking Samsung and the other one is Sony. And I like both of their shit. They're TVs are stupid. They don't work, right? There's like a Visio gram thing on one of the TVs in the house. Who the fuck is gonna use Vios Instagram?

[:

[00:08:52] Frank Roll: whoever the fucking executive or team that thought that up, that's what's wrong with a lot going on right now.

[:

[00:08:57] Frank Roll: yes it is. . Not everything needs its own fucking social network or, okay, opposite direction. Did you know that like newer Samsung TVs have this, uh, like free Samsung tv?

[:

[00:09:17] Scott Moran: I'm okay with that cause I kind of missed that about television.

[:

[00:09:23] Frank Roll: The last time I saw that I was like 12. You know, or like even younger and

[:

[00:09:30] Frank Roll: or like you, you're at somebody's house who had a dish network or something and it had the music channels like, oh my god. Yeah. You know, where like Tom Warner had that for a while.

[:

[00:09:42] Scott Moran: other highlights were, uh, I'm watching season two of the Mandalorian. Okay. Season three starts March 1st. I'm excited about that. I love that. Watching the, or. I picked up where I left off.

[:

[00:10:15] Scott Moran: Had no idea. He has a reverence for it that you have to respect. He did a really good job and they rebooted it for Hulu and I was like, ah, I should finish season two and watch this reboot cuz I'm probably the reason it's canceled is I stopped watching it. Knowing my luck, I also watched Jay Silent Bob Reboot, which was, uh, nostalgic and got my heart in the end, but didn't need to happen.

[:

[00:10:38] Frank Roll: why I, I don't know if I'll give it a shot. I'd rather rewatch clerks. .

[:

[00:10:57] Scott Moran: I almost hit play on that. I enjoyed the shit out of the first and second episode, and I got to the third one and I was like, I need a break. Did you watch the

[:

[00:11:08] Scott Moran: It's been a few years since I saw that movie, but I did rewatch it not too long ago.

[:

[00:11:16] Frank Roll: Can I do it one more time? Ba Ramu Willow.

[:

[00:11:26] Frank Roll: yeah, the Rock.

[:

[00:11:34] Scott Moran: Damn. It's too, It went on too long. It was exactly what you expected it to be, but it was like two hours long. Mm-hmm. And, uh, it's just very long. I wanted it to end. Hmm. Like, I was like, I get it. Come on. It's like one in the morning. I don't wanna watch this anymore. But I did finish it. , ,

[:

[00:11:58] Frank Roll: And then with the ice. We had an ice storm recently in our time. Ooh. Yeah. Texas can't handle shit. It wasn't fun. So I had extra time.

[:

[00:12:15] Scott Moran: Well, you know what, I got fucked last time cuz I live in a low income area with no hospital, so we just had to wait till the end. So did power

[:

[00:12:27] Scott Moran: My honest theory on that is that all the trees already fell down. Mm-hmm. . And so they didn't,

[:

[00:12:37] Scott Moran: You're too ready for this. Oh, I carried firewood up from the shed. Mm-hmm. just in case. Cuz I was like, everything I do means nothing's gonna happen and I would like to play dead space

[:

[00:12:51] Frank Roll: Oh man. ,

[:

[00:13:03] Frank Roll: Uhoh, like I said, I did, I started a lot more than I finished. . I've got things going right now, depending on the mood is where I'm gonna finish it.

[:

[00:13:17] Scott Moran: Can you say how you feel about it on here? Or should I just describe your face? ?

[:

[00:13:25] Scott Moran: Yeah. I'm gonna skip that

[:

[00:13:29] Frank Roll: I love the shout outs. It was so well done. It was just deep because of the, the context and everything. . It was well done though. They did it right. Like it, it's fucking awesome when people do it. Right. Right on. Um, but you know, you mentioned I did, last of us finally started, we went ahead and did all three in two days.

[:

[00:13:52] Scott Moran: meaning to watch that. I've never seen that. It

[:

[00:14:08] Frank Roll: Well,

[:

[00:14:14] Frank Roll: the main aha moment. That's not always bad. No. Uh, I did like the little shit they threw in towards the end. It was a good little mystery, thriller, detective thing, angry parent, you know, need to find the kid.

[:

[00:14:44] Scott Moran: that long? Oh man. I watched it when it was long.

[:

[00:14:52] Scott Moran: Pacific. It's got 10 minutes. , doesn't it? From, uh, Jurassic Park,

[:

[00:15:03] Frank Roll: Yeah. I, I paid to take pictures with him at a Walker Stalker Con once. That's how you become friends. Yeah, he's my friend. Um, , um, no, the one, I do wanna say sins of our mother because I'm stuck in true kind because I'm like a 55 year old woman right now. You going through? Soon, I'm feeling some tingling. Um, I get hot.

[:

[00:15:36] Scott Moran: you're fanning yourself.

[:

[00:15:56] Frank Roll: She was, uh, involved with the lds, but then she got involved with this guy who was like radical lds and in his own way was like his own, I won't say profit, I don't think he. He tried to be in a leader, posi leadership position and had like a handful of followers, including this woman, that's all you need.

[:

[00:16:22] Scott Moran: awful. So you really enjoyed this?

[:

[00:16:26] Scott Moran: What

[:

[00:16:37] Frank Roll: Uh, like this was happening, like when Covid hit. So it was one of those things that just got, yeah. How

[:

[00:16:46] Frank Roll: the news anymore. . So it turns out it's one of those, probably one of the last stories I was seeing in the news before it went to Covid. It was, I think it was a three parter and the third part I feel like was shorter.

[:

[00:17:01] Scott Moran: to ride those HBO O Coattail . The episode is how long it is ,

[:

[00:17:12] Scott Moran: last episode of the last of us was 47 minutes long. Most recent one? Yeah. Yeah. The one you haven't seen yet.

[:

[00:17:21] Frank Roll: be. But I've got some other documentaries I've started. Can't wait to talk about 'em. It's more true crime, . It's, I, I, you know, I'll watch other shit. One

[:

[00:17:39] Scott Moran: Maybe it's us.

[:

[00:17:55] Scott Moran: stole plastic Berets

[:

[00:18:11] Frank Roll: that, that was cult-like the villagers.

[:

[00:18:16] Frank Roll: China. Oh, were they more like protectors?

[:

[00:18:22] Frank Roll: You're right. They even said that it was

[:

[00:18:32] Frank Roll: you've got a weird fucking malkovich door on the side of a fucking mountain .

[:

[00:18:42] Scott Moran: Yeah. No man, fairy houses

[:

[00:18:47] Scott Moran: hope that's out there. I hope there's one of those in the suicide forest. I

[:

[00:18:55] Frank Roll: I love the found footage, flicks. It's my jams. Love 'em. This one freaked me the fuck out a little bit more like something really remember being a Taiwanese movie, I just felt as if it was a little more authentic in its own way.

[:

[00:19:18] Scott Moran: That was. Incantation. Scary.

[:

[00:19:23] Scott Moran: say scary? Oh, it freaked you out. So it it, it got you in.

[:

[00:19:37] Frank Roll: I'm like, yeah, we're gonna do the, the episode tonight. Um, scary. No, but freaked me out, like made me feel weird. Yes. That intro man.

[:

[00:19:59] Frank Roll: like the original, the German, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[:

[00:20:17] Scott Moran: if that is a thing. I almost found this so.

[:

[00:20:33] Frank Roll: It was, it was good.

[:

[00:20:43] Scott Moran: I always talk about story structure and this is, uh, a little more eastern. There tends to be, uh, a lot of. Like four ACT plays. And I think that this movie had the same format.

[:

[00:21:19] Scott Moran: I think that like, like Ring is not like that ring is a Western story. Well, and some

[:

[00:21:30] Scott Moran: the American one. Yeah. It was a problem when they went and dealt with it. Yeah. Well, not even the American one. They're almost essentially the same story, but even the Japanese ring and the book are almost Western in the way they tell the story.

[:

[00:21:51] Frank Roll: Incantation is a Taiwanese found footage horror film that follows a woman named Lee Ronan, who is documenting bringing her daughter Doto home after a mental break in a six year stay in a mental facility.

[:

[00:22:15] Scott Moran: or something. Maybe I think more time was passing in this movie than I was, than what we were shown aware

[:

[00:22:20] Frank Roll: Yeah. Um, the present day footage is cut together with incidents of six years earlier. Ronan, her boyfriend Dom and his cousin Yon, are filming a ghost hunting documentary. They all get together, they visit the boy's family in a rural village. Uh, that's where the malkovich door is that I'm talking about.

[:

[00:22:56] Frank Roll: The elders asked the three to submit their names to a ritual. And finding out at that moment, she is pregnant. Ronan has told she must also submit the name of her child upon birth. That's that shit I was talking about. There's things in life I'll never even fucking play with. I just You

[:

[00:23:12] Frank Roll: Yeah. I would've been like, no, fuck this. This is fucking weird. Don't wanna risk it. You don't know about supernatural stuff. Just if you don't poke it, maybe it won't bite you. But when they meet the young girl, Being willingly prepared for sacrifice. Tatted the fuck up, the trio breaker, religious taboo, following her into a tunnel to film.

[:

[00:23:34] Scott Moran: don't go in the mcic door.

[:

[00:23:51] Frank Roll: And the incantation is a curse that has diluted the more people

[:

[00:24:06] Frank Roll: That's why I

[:

[00:24:10] Scott Moran: Yeah. I mean,

[:

[00:24:18] Scott Moran: and for which I guess explains my main question, which was, is this a good time to pay for a camera? The day you get your child back from Child Protective Services, , I'll, I'll, I'll buy a new camera.

[:

[00:24:48] Scott Moran: place? I don't know.

[:

[00:24:51] Frank Roll: much like our , well, you know, I'm thinking, okay, she's a woman who's been in mental care for years. The apartment in a place like that, I'm like, that seems pretty good size compared to some of the shit that I've seen from places like that. You know, like, yeah.

It

[:

[00:25:09] Frank Roll: Exactly. Um, was she a makeup artist?

[:

[00:25:16] Frank Roll: theater group. I don't know. Yeah. Um, I mean, she was part of a ghost hunting club. Like what would you say that was?

[:

[00:25:23] Scott Moran: was, I guess she was younger, but I mean, It's like drug addicts when they get clean, they're whatever age they were when they started. Yeah. You go to a mental hospital, probably still 21

[:

[00:25:36] Scott Moran: Incantation was directed by Kevin Coe and written by Chong Te way.

[:

[00:25:58] Scott Moran: I should have written it down, but I don't think you would've chanted it with me. Nope. ,

[:

[00:26:05] Scott Moran: The true story is only vaguely similar. Wherein the Taiwanese family in 2005 claimed to be possessed by various Chinese folk and religious deities accusing one another of being demons. They burned and beat each other with sticks and spirit tablets, which I don't know what a spirit tablet is, but I picture it being kind of heavy.

[:

[00:26:50] Scott Moran: Hmm. So, uh, Yeah, ultimately interested me more than the plot of the movie.

[:

[00:26:59] Scott Moran: dig? I could find articles, but they were not translating well. Oh. From, I think they were in Mandarin, but like I couldn't read some of them clearly, so I was like, this is, this might not be good information.

[:

[00:27:28] Frank Roll: area. Well wait when she noticed or when, uh, the mom cuts off the second one.

[:

[00:27:33] Scott Moran: yeah, yeah. . Yeah. The ear cutting. Mm-hmm. regardless. Similar to that tongue incident. And that was really, Same area of the world that happened. Yeah. Maybe that's a little more common. Same sort of Buddhism. Other than that, it deviated significantly from what that sort of Buddhism looks like.

[:

[00:27:58] Scott Moran: Yeah. There should have been some more indicators

[:

[00:28:03] Scott Moran: going here now. Also, in the beginning of it, the car accident, I thought it was the boyfriend.

[:

[00:28:15] Frank Roll: accident? So I tied it into he's been cursed his family, cuz he's the one who came from like that bloodline. And basically, isn't that the thing is like they're all

[:

[00:28:36] Frank Roll: It's like a bad luck

[:

[00:29:00] Scott Moran: That's how like it was

[:

[00:29:02] Scott Moran: didn't have that one in the notes and slow, but I was like, that was fucking creepy. Mm-hmm. and it had some truly creepy

[:

[00:29:13] Scott Moran: was fucking creepy. A little unsettling. It

[:

[00:29:17] Frank Roll: I'll say it again. It

[:

[00:29:22] Frank Roll: thing. I think I may have mentioned I don't fuck with it , and when I watch movies like this, I just can't help but think like you don't need to think about it too

[:

[00:29:35] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. that I was cracking up about. The biggest one. when she was doing like a, like a deep voice to her daughter, it said Infa voice.

[:

[00:29:48] Scott Moran: I went full dub. I can't watch a dub movie. It's

[:

[00:29:55] Scott Moran: I cannot handle people's lips not going along with what they're saying. I

[:

[00:30:00] Scott Moran: are good for you, I guess. Well, have

[:

[00:30:10] Scott Moran: actor's face. I think that's crap.

[:

[00:30:14] Frank Roll: Well, because yeah, I mean it's like, it's like this AI gener regeneration of the scene, but I feel like my, you know, fuck

[:

[00:30:30] Scott Moran: Don't fuck with the movie. Like, at least like Ridley Scott is keeping multiple versions of Blade Runner in Circula. Release all of 'em for the people who remember it that way.

[:

[00:30:50] Frank Roll: Troll Hunter? No, not Troll Hunter. The one that I just troll. Troll? Yeah. Just troll. I was fucking convinced they were speaking English. and it was that first night, the set and I, you know, I had to stop it, but when I went back to watch it, I was like, oh, I'm stupid . That was, that was definitely just dubbed.

[:

[00:31:24] Scott Moran: translate that well.

[:

[00:31:33] Frank Roll: mean you're gonna get a different interpretation dubbed versus subtitle versus actually just. Understanding.

[:

[00:31:48] Scott Moran: That's the, that's the thing. It's like if your soundbar falls off a little bit mm-hmm. , you know, and the sound's coming out just a millisecond too late. I will reboot everything in the room. .

[:

[00:32:05] Scott Moran: There was a lot of eating hair in this movie that bothered me a little.

[:

[00:32:10] Frank Roll: it upsets me a lot. I do it now just while I'm eating. It's not fun.

[:

[00:32:20] Frank Roll: Yeah. Or when you know you're going all in and you see. How it had those locks on the, the offering table, if you may call it that.

[:

[00:32:29] Scott Moran: liked that the offerings, it was the actual eating the hair. One thing that really bothered me in this movie mm-hmm. , kind of similar to the watching the dub thing. Mm-hmm. . It's just one of those little things. Yuan's glasses didn't have fucking lenses in 'em. They didn't. They didn't. I don't like that shit.

[:

[00:32:52] Frank Roll: it was so don't fucking do this, do it in a movie. Well, because they were so close on his face. That's when I noticed it. Cause I was like, wait, like it's still like the way you can kind of see the cheek sometimes, like the lighting on the cheek is when you realize, whoa, there's not a glare, there's not a lens.

[:

[00:33:22] Frank Roll: of those documentaries that I'm watching right now, it's so funny you brought the shit up because I forgot all about that in this one.

[:

[00:33:44] Scott Moran: No. You should see how scratch my glasses are. I mean, this guy did kill somebody. I lip way

[:

[00:33:57] Scott Moran: Yeah. Okay. It's okay. ?

[:

[00:34:06] Scott Moran: for, I guess to return some videotapes.

[:

[00:34:09] Frank Roll: it's cranberry juice.

[:

[00:34:31] Scott Moran: Just show me the first one and then make me wonder if I saw it. Yeah. There were certain things about this I really didn't like. I liked the story overall. Mm. But I really, I didn't like the execution of some of it.

[:

[00:34:45] Scott Moran: footage. I didn't like the focus on Ming, the social worker. His whole, like, I would like to be a father one day.

[:

[00:34:54] Frank Roll: question. Yeah. How they, well, and then they dipped more into his shit, and I mean, his character,

[:

[00:35:06] Frank Roll: obviously didn't want Ronan's character to be solo.

[:

[00:35:20] Frank Roll: he, when he makes the decision to assist her in evading the police, you know, I, maybe that was supposed to hit harder than it did.

[:

[00:35:29] Scott Moran: Well, it was because they show. Him just go ahead and help her. And then they doubled back to his debate moment, maybe 25 minutes later. Was it like that? Yeah, it was a, it was a ways on,

[:

[00:35:41] Scott Moran: right. When they actually show, showed, showed it again. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That would, that added to the confusion of like, when is this happening?

[:

[00:36:04] Frank Roll: here and there.

[:

[00:36:17] Scott Moran: has the, like you're in

[:

[00:36:27] Frank Roll: I had a Europa report moment. See, that was part of what I didn't like about like a found footage thing. Yeah. It didn't have like the documentary style where they were getting people's opinions on what had happened, like Europa did. But the way that that opening narration and then your closing narration was

[:

[00:36:44] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. . Was lost in its inconsistency.

[:

[00:36:50] Scott Moran: Yeah. Doesn't, I didn't really like it in that one. I would've rather it been a

[:

[00:36:56] Scott Moran: I know it hurts your feelings, doesn't it? you get a little like mm-hmm. .

[:

[00:37:05] Frank Roll: It's probably cheap. It was . That's why I waited on it and the next time I looked it was gone. Cuz I was like, fuck. Should have just got

[:

[00:37:25] Scott Moran: I didn't need the, the six years later story. That would've been the great scary movie. That's what I wanted out of this .

[:

[00:37:34] Scott Moran: that's where you all the, like the guys with all the roons all over them standing together on that porch and being all pale face, but

[:

[00:37:43] Frank Roll: A couple of found footage, movies that's out there, all over the place with these,

[:

[00:37:50] Frank Roll: try and go to, to attempt the depth. And again, you're saying this did feel Western it, it felt Eastern. Oh, you did say it was Eastern, right.

Felt

[:

[00:38:03] Frank Roll: But at the same time, Maybe that's why it didn't hit right with you. That's

[:

[00:38:26] Scott Moran: Mm-hmm. or. one that was just, these kids go ghost hunting. But

[:

[00:38:35] Scott Moran: I, I see what you're saying. Yeah. They, this, they might not have been as good. Mm-hmm. , but haven't been given both. I wanted just one.

[:

[00:38:46] Frank Roll: You know, you go to Taiwan, there are other horror movies. I bet it was mind blowing. That's what I'm saying. I wonder if this was like, oh, this isn't just, yeah, I'm spoiled

[:

[00:39:02] Frank Roll: close. Very close. But there were those things that, it's definitely not even in my top 10, but as far as freak me.

[:

[00:39:17] Scott Moran: Yeah. 8, 9, 10. Because some that were bad have freaked me out. Mm-hmm. much more than this one did. Um, but I don't know what, I don't have the perspective of like, knowing how. aspects of this sort of Buddhism work in that region.

[:

[00:39:37] Frank Roll: freaked out. Did you ever see Butterfly Kisses after I told you about Butterfly Kisses? Uh, I

[:

[00:39:48] Frank Roll: Okay. Well, if I'm not mistaken, I think Butterfly Kisses was the one, uh, whoever runs Poll Oak's Facebook. Oh, really? I think. Oh really? This is on one of their, Butterfly kisses was, I think it was Appalachia. That's why. That's why it clicked. I'm sorry. I didn't even wanna talk about it scarier than this. I think.

[:

[00:40:07] Frank Roll: um, again, but probably not my top five or top 10. But it was

[:

[00:40:13] Frank Roll: expecting. No, based off of that trailer that we saw when we were checking out trailers, I thought it was gonna be a lot more intense. Scary. Well, the

[:

[00:40:24] Scott Moran: Fuck me up and well, and it, it's, that's, I was

[:

[00:40:28] Scott Moran: do they call him? The boogie. Oh, the, the batty. The batty. The no face. Batty. The no face I had actually written down. Oh

[:

[00:40:35] Scott Moran: Dom lost his face later on. Yes. And I was like, in the tunnel.

[:

[00:40:44] Frank Roll: was, we'll do that scene in the trailer where she's holding her hand up and she's like, here, here, waited. That was one of the huge draws to this. Well, that

[:

[00:40:58] Scott Moran: if I had come from this culture, because I know that like Buddhist statues are generally supposed to face like doorways and stuff like that. Like they, I had the back face thing and there was all the like turning these Buddhist statues away from Yes.

[:

[00:41:14] Scott Moran: cool though. And that kid, kid comes in and turns it around like, oh, this Buddha's facing the wrong.

[:

[00:41:27] Frank Roll: Blair Witch kicking the fucking stones . Don't fuck with the formations, man. That shit was put there for a reason. You see something with fucking concrete and chains around it, leave it the fuck

[:

[00:41:47] Frank Roll: again. 1999. That shit was fucking, that. That freaks me the fuck out. That shit was like, I watched that daytime for the first time. First time I ever watched that daytime VHS freaked me the fuck out. There's parts high on drugs. It was scary. Yeah, there's parts of that I watch now at night still get me cuz yeah, I watch it every now and then.

[:

[00:42:08] Scott Moran: parts of it that are like, that's just, well you're a, you're a found footage efficient auto . So like I feel like that has to be like, you give it the respect, it's. For the genre. Well, other people are like,

[:

[00:42:30] Frank Roll: And there there's, there are. It's not like this abstract concept that's never been Diddled with before. No, it was

[:

[00:42:42] Frank Roll: Well, and it's the fact that these fuckers did it on such a low budget. And they didn't expect

[:

[00:42:52] Frank Roll: fucking real.

[:

[00:43:16] Frank Roll: and in other places, it's

[:

[00:43:26] Frank Roll: really hard. Yeah. You know, and yeah. I mean, especially, you know, I'm sure that, uh, more people over there take rituals like that a little more seriously.

[:

[00:43:35] Scott Moran: let's say. Yeah. You know, like cut out your tongue or beat your sister to death. Yeah, I don't, there's extremes everywhere. Mean fucking black metal and doorway is the most ridiculous shit. . .

[:

[00:43:53] Frank Roll: I just, this probably hit different over there than it did here, man. And that's the freak out thing that I'm talking about. It wasn't scary, but it's weird.

[:

[00:44:13] Frank Roll: know, local rituals or wise tales, or you, whatever you wanna call it.

[:

[00:44:27] Scott Moran: yeah. I don't really understand the oppressive parts of Buddhism, but I'm

interested.

[:

[00:44:34] Frank Roll: Just fucking turn around, get back in the fucking car. That's not the trip you're looking for. Well,

[:

[00:44:54] Scott Moran: So it's on there now on HBO Max?

[:

[00:44:58] Scott Moran: that's not found footage. It's not found footage. Do you think that it's gonna stay there long enough? Two weeks that we can get back to it? It's gotta be new on there. It is new. There was a weak lag between Showtime or Hulu and it going to hp. If I have

[:

[00:45:17] Scott Moran: Okay. . Set a timer. So yeah, let's just go ahead and do the found footage. We're already here. Which one? Sassy. What was it? Sissy. Sissy and dead stream. Which would you like to do first? Sissy or dead stream? I think you were excited about Dead stream. I was excited

[:

[00:45:36] Scott Moran: isn't going.

[:

[00:45:38] Frank Roll: Let's do sissy first, just cuz it seems a little lighter.

[:

[00:45:45] Frank Roll: stream. And maybe we squeeze in the Riley Stearns. Just,

[:

[00:45:53] Scott Moran: Yeah. Yeah. . Yeah. Or I'll leave it in because we're fucking debating it. . We'll just love that guy.

[:

[00:46:10] Scott Moran: I mean, he lives in Los Angeles.

[:

[00:46:19] Frank Roll: Wait, is South by time? Coming South by is Spring right? It's coming March. Yeah, March. Yeah. South by is Spring. Yeah. ACL is fall. Yeah.

[:

[00:46:29] Scott Moran: Yeah. Yeah. So I wanna see all the stuff that gets written from the head space of coming out of a pandemic. Yeah. That isn't about a pandemic mind you.

[:

[00:46:44] Scott Moran: think one year we should go to Fantastic Fest and then do the podcast all week.

[:

[00:46:52] Frank Roll: But I'm saying, you know, they, the Hollywood loves the Austin, you know. Well,

[:

[00:47:01] Frank Roll: well and the well, and the fact that Riley Stearns is, you know, Pflugerville local, fuck man.

[:

[00:47:11] Scott Moran: almost all of his movies at Premier Beer during summer, Riley

[:

[00:47:15] Scott Moran: the same age, bro. ,

[:

[00:47:21] Scott Moran: Yeah. And you're gonna go see, uh, Knock at the cabin. Knock at the cabin Sunday, I would uh, go with you. But not this time.

[:

[00:47:38] Frank Roll: Yeah, there's some good

[:

[00:47:45] Frank Roll: Yeah. It's weird. Olympia was like, let's go see Infin. I was like, what made you wanna. She's like, it look kind of fucking

[:

[00:47:58] Frank Roll: body horror.

[:

[00:48:09] Scott Moran: Well, we're in that nice spot where things are gonna come out and then summer movies will happen and let's hope that things.

[:

[00:48:19] Scott Moran: fun. I feel like this is our, uh, this is our grind Core month where we watch Frank's well found footage, movies that he can't, sissy. What get to on the standard platforms. There's

[:

[00:48:31] Frank Roll: Did you say there was a third? No, I don't think so. Okay. I thought you said there was a third and I was like, yeah, there was, but there's not, is there?

[:

[00:48:39] Frank Roll: the, the incantation, sissy dead.

[:

[00:48:46] Frank Roll: Yeah. And what . Yeah, and then I'm gonna find a Riley Stern's t-shirt

[:

[00:48:55] Frank Roll: I kind of do that. Dude. I listen to that shit all the way to work

[:

[00:49:03] Frank Roll: when you dry. I still have the teen angst in me . I need it. Thanks everyone for joining us for the last video store Clerks. Be sure to leave a rating and subscribe.
